Graduate Quantity Surveyor

(September 2027 intake)

REPORTING TO: Commercial Manager

LOCATION: This role is based at our Head Office in Newry; however, you must be willing to spend a minimum of 3-4 days per week on site, gaining hands-on experience on exciting projects across Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare, with potential exposure to international projects in Germany, Sweden and other EU countries. 

Flexibility to travel is essential, but we'll provide the necessary accommodation and support to help you make the most of these opportunities.  


CONTRACT TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Preparing, negotiating and analysing of costs for tenders/contracts.
  • Assist with the procurement of subcontractors.
  • Assessing and certification of sub-contractor payments.
  • Evaluate, measure and recover contract variations.
  • Production of monthly Cost Valuation Reconciliation on contracts.
  • Review, assess and reduce commercial and contractual risks.
  • Ensure that good client relationships are fostered.
  • Establish, maintain and enhance effective working relationships between the commercial team and the operational site teams.
  • Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the Commercial department.
  • Have a good understanding of the processes and procedures of the Commercial department and actively seek to assist in development and improvement where possible.


The Candidate

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Candidates should be graduated within the last 2 years with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
  • Commercial/site experience gained as part of a placement or paid employment.


Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
  • Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.

 

Additional information

  • All candidates should have the legal right or a valid permit to that enables them to work in the Republic of Ireland and the UK.
  • Travel to various sites and live projects across Ireland will be expected as part of normal duties for this role, therefore a full driving licence and access to own vehicle will be an advantage.
  • As part of this role, you will be expected to work outdoors on live construction sites in varying weather conditions.
