SALARY:                  $50.99/hr to $62.10/hr per hour DOE
REPORTS TO:Â Â Â Â Â Medical Director
LOCATION:        Nespelem Health Center, Nespelem, WA
SUMMARY:
The Lab Supervisor is a working member of the team that provides leadership, oversight, and day-to-day management of laboratory services and personnel across two Colville Tribal Healthcare Authority clinic locations. The position is responsible for ensuring laboratory operations at both sites are conducted safely, accurately, efficiently, and consistently and that testing services support timely, high-quality patient care. The Lab Supervisor establishes and maintains standardized laboratory practices across both clinics; oversees staffing, workflow, quality control, competency, equipment, supplies, documentation, and regulatory compliance; and ensures laboratory results and other testing information are accurate, appropriately documented, readily accessible, and communicated to providers in a timely manner. The incumbent serves as the primary supervisory resource for laboratory personnel at both locations and is expected to maintain an appropriate on-site presence at each clinic based on operational and patient-care needs.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a relevant science field, such as biology, chemistry, or another health science field.
- Two (2) years of experience performing high-complexity testing.
- Supervisor experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience with laboratory information systems, electronic health records, or comparable healthcare technology.
- Ability to routinely travel between assigned clinic locations and work a schedule that supports supervisory coverage and operational needs at both sites.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to remain eligible for applicable CTHCA/Tribal vehicle insurance requirements throughout employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certification and required privacy and confidentiality training/certifications.
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory principles, terminology, practices, workflows, and basic human anatomy and physiology applicable to assigned laboratory services.
- Knowledge of high-complexity testing practices and the quality, documentation, safety, and competency requirements associated with clinical laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control, quality assurance, specimen integrity, test-result reporting, corrective action, and recordkeeping practices.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, bloodborne pathogen precautions, laboratory safety, chemical and biohazard handling, and appropriate waste-disposal practices.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable laboratory policies, procedures, manufacturer instructions, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
- Ability to supervise, coach, train, evaluate, and hold team members accountable while maintaining professionalism, fairness, consistency, and appropriate workplace boundaries.
- Ability to recognize laboratory conditions or conduct that may affect patient safety, testing integrity, regulatory compliance, or continuity of care and take timely and appropriate action.
- Ability to maintain complete, accurate, timely, and transparent laboratory records and ensure testing information is appropriately available to authorized healthcare providers.
- Ability to analyze laboratory information from multiple sources, identify discrepancies or trends, investigate concerns, and implement or recommend corrective action.
- Ability to communicate technical and operational information clearly and professionally to providers, team members, leadership, patients, vendors, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Ability to handle conflict, complaints, performance concerns, and sensitive personnel matters professionally, objectively, and confidentially.
- Ability to remain organized, focused, and effective while managing competing priorities, interruptions, urgent patient-care needs, and emergency situations.
- Proficiency with laboratory applications, electronic health record systems, healthcare databases, Microsoft Office applications, and other technology used in laboratory operations.
- Ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, procedures, and documentation using appropriate grammar, spelling, and terminology.
- Demonstrated ethical conduct, professional integrity, dependability, accountability, discretion, and commitment to patient-centered service.
- Ability to work independently within delegated authority and seek guidance when matters fall outside established procedures, qualifications, or supervisory authority.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and departments throughout the organization.
- Ability and willingness to routinely travel between the two assigned clinic locations and adjust on-site presence based on staffing, operational, quality, and patient-care needs.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License is required and the incumbent must remain insurable under applicable CTHCA/Tribal requirements.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.  If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
