What a College Intern - New Product Introduction Engineering (NPI IT Control Systems) does at HP:
Assist vendors setup of facility and GRE for proto setup ​
Assist and support vendor for machinery landingÂ
Assist vendor and engineers in machinery /tooling install, assembly system debugging and commissionÂ
Hands on work with suppliers to develop mechanical fixtures/jigs design, tooling modification/customization, install and testÂ
Develop tooling modification/customization, mechanical design improvementsÂ
Assist NPI Engineers with process characterization, gage R&R and NPI experimentsÂ
Assist NPI Engineers to buyoff FAT/ SATÂ
Periodic maintenance and calibration of online and offline tooling/gagesÂ
Audit tooling maintenance and calibrationÂ
Operate and hands on machinery for proto build runsÂ
Engage and assist NPI Engineers on experimental builds, innovate and engineer new processes, newmanufacturing technologiesÂ
Spare managementÂ
Maintain a master listcontaining OS version info,Anti virus version, IP, Backup and etc of all PCs deployed in proto environmentÂ
Knowledge on Backup and Storage systems in order to Perform regular backup jobs, verify backup integrity and data recovery on various platform such as Windows OS, PLC systems, leak testers, VisionSystems and offline test equipment.Â
Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usuallypossess:Â
Current Bachelor or Masters undergraduate pursuingElectrical/Software Engineering or Computer Science
Able to commit for a 5-6 months full time internship starting in January 2027
Ability to apply engineering fundamentals & conceptsÂ
Failure Analysis and characterizationÂ
Data Analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC)Â
Design components/subsystems using CADÂ
Integrate new designs into existing processesÂ
Ability to generate test plans, provide short-loop test methods and tools to allow risk assessmentÂ
Teamwork and ability to collaborate and communicate ideas is highly valuedÂ
Growth mindsetÂ
Possess knowledge in using operating systems such as MS Windows/Office environment
Knowledge on Backup and Storage systemsÂ
Competent in a factory automation environment ie. able to debug and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) as well as other factory automation hardware/software such as digital input output, sensors and switches,motion controlÂ
Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC ladder programming knowledgeÂ
Basic experience in configuring of IT network infrastructure to support the daily operation. Some understanding of networking basics of TCP/IP such as configuring IP addresses, ping commands, etc. Ability to configure new switches, identify faulty networkcomponent such as network card, cable, network port, switches.
Basic understanding on security configuration.
Basic understanding of Anti Virus working mechanism with ability to install/manageAnti Virus deployment.Â
Machine vision software and hardware (bonus). Able to read and understand AC/DC schematics will be an added advantage (bonus).Â
Knowledge on Python programming, C#, VB.net will be added advantage (bonus)Â
