Cryptographic Key Management Operations Engineer
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Work Model: Onsite
Employment Type: Contract
We are seeking a highly skilledCryptographic Key Management Operations Engineer to join the client's onsite team inOmaha, NE. This is ahands-on, business-as-usual (BAU) operational role responsible for leading and supporting day-to-day cryptographic operations, with a strong focus oncryptographic key storage, enterprise keystore management, and certificate lifecycle management.
This role is critical to ensuring thesecurity, availability, and compliance of cryptographic keys and certificates supportingmission-critical financial systems in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform daily BAU cryptographic operations includingkey generation, secure storage, rotation, and retirement
  • Managedigital certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, and lifecycle management
  • Administer and operateenterprise keystores, Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), and Key Management Systems (KMS)
  • Serve as asenior escalation point for cryptographic incidents, service requests, and operational issues
  • Perform proactivemonitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance of key management platforms
  • Ensure cryptographic operations comply with approvedSOPs, runbooks, and change management processes
  • Maintain operational logs and provideaudit and compliance evidence as required
  • Collaborate closely with onsitesecurity, infrastructure, application, and compliance teams
  • Participate inon-call rotations and scheduled maintenance activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience withcryptographic key storage and enterprise keystore management
  • Proven experience withHSMs, cloud KMS, or enterprise key management platforms
  • Solid understanding ofsymmetric and asymmetric cryptography
  • Working knowledge ofPKI, digital certificates, and key lifecycle management

Operational & Leadership Skills

  • Demonstrated experience providingproduction / BAU support for security or cryptographic platforms
  • Ability tolead operational activities and mentor junior engineers
  • Strongincident management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working withticketing systems and meeting operationalSLAs

Compliance & Audit Awareness

  • Working knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such asPCI DSS
  • Experience supportinginternal and external audits, including documentation and evidence collection

Experience Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience incryptographic operations, key management, or security operations
  • Prior experience infinancial services, payments, or highly regulated environments is strongly preferred

Additional Employee Requirements

  • Participation in internal and external meetings viavideo conferencing
  • Ability to workonsite at corporate or client offices, as required
  • Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use
  • Physical requirements may include bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead, and lifting up to25 lbs when required
  • Validdriver's license and acceptable driving record may be required for business travel
