ALTEN is looking for an experiencedStress Engineer to support an exciting aerospace engineering programme focused on the structural integrity and performance oflanding gear systems and components.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background instress analysis, structural assessment and finite element analysis (FEA) to work on safety-critical aerospace equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Performstatic and dynamic stress analysis of landing gear structures and components, including struts, wheels, brakes, linkages and associated assemblies.
- Conduct structural assessments for aerospace loading conditions includinglanding, taxiing and fatigue environments.
- Carry outhand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to substantiate engineering designs.
- Develop, refine and assessfinite element models using tools such asANSYS, MSC NASTRAN or ABAQUS.
- Correlate analytical and FEA predictions againstphysical test results, identifying and resolving discrepancies where required.
- Assess designs against relevantaerospace certification requirements and engineering standards, including applicable FAR/CS requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Work closely withdesign, materials, manufacturing and test engineers to identify opportunities for structural and weight optimisation.
- Produce clear and comprehensivestress reports, technical substantiation and certification documentation.
- Provide technical input throughout the design and product lifecycle, supporting engineering reviews and technical decision-making.
- Supportfailure investigations and root-cause analysis (RCA) relating to structural or in-service issues.
- Develop technically robust recommendations and corrective actions based on engineering analysis.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience withinaerospace structural or stress analysis.
- Experience performing bothhand calculations and finite element analysis.
- Good understanding ofstatic strength, fatigue, structural integrity and dynamic loading.
- Practical experience with one or more major FEA packages such asANSYS, NASTRAN or ABAQUS.
- Experience analysingmetallic aerospace structures and components.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, load cases, material properties and test data.
- Experience producingstress reports and technical substantiation documentation.
- An understanding of aerospace certification and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly.
Required Qualifications:
- ABachelor’s orMaster’s degree inEngineering, or equivalent military experience.
