Controls Engineer

Summary

Responsible for programming, commissioning, and startup of PLC-based automation systems. Involves system design, planning, program creation, in-house debugging, and field start-up. Typical systems include AB Logix PLC, FANUC robot, and HMI. Work primarily at the company location with travel for start-up, servicing, and commissioning at customer sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design prints using AutoCAD LT.
• Create PLC programs to integrate material handling devices with robots.
• Train in designing robot programs for material handling.
• Edit and interface HMI programs with PLC and robot functions.
• Specify and maintain I/O lists for electrical and program design coordination.
• Maintain electrical schematics post-assembly.
• Test, debug, and validate system functions before shipment.
• Commission completed systems at customer sites for approval.
• Train technicians on system operation and program maintenance.

Additional Requirements

• Expertise in PLC programming, Allen Bradley/Rockwell Logix Products.
• Experience in programming, installation, startup, and debugging of production systems.
• FANUC Robotics experience is a plus.
• Independent work experience at customer facilities.
• Proficient in electrical schematics and diagrams.
• AutoCAD LT experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• 25-30% travel required.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred, with 3-5 years' experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
