Rochester, NY | $90,000–$125,000 annually
Our client, a manufacturing company in Rochester, NY, is seeking an experiencedController to lead site accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cost analysis. This position partners with site leadership to improve financial performance, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic decisions while overseeing the Financial Controller at a second site.
Responsibilities
- Partner with site leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, strategic initiatives, and plans to improve profitability and cash flow.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, explaining performance against budget, forecasts, and prior-year results.
- Present financial results and key performance indicators to site management, translating data into actionable recommendations.
- Lead manufacturing cost analysis, including product costing, re-costing, and monthly standard cost variance reviews.
- Evaluate capital investment proposals, validate financial calculations, and monitor site investment plans.
- Oversee accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation.
- Ensure accurate corporate reporting and support statutory financial statements, tax filings, depreciation, provisions, and complex accounting transactions.
- Coordinate audits and maintain strong internal controls to manage financial risk and protect confidential information.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, credit management, and supplier approval and setup.
- Coordinate site tax matters with corporate finance and external advisors, including transfer pricing as applicable.
- Communicate financial risks, including foreign exchange and commodity exposure, to corporate finance.
- Oversee the Financial Controller at a second site and support finance team organization, recruitment, and training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- 5–10 years of accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial and standard cost accounting.
- Experience in a make-to-order or engineer-to-order environment preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets and clearly explain financial results.
- Experience working with an integrated ERP system.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operations, sales, and other departments.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently.
