The Opportunity
As a Consultant at Sattva, you will work closely with senior stakeholders on a government engagement with the Government of Maharashtra, focused on HR and Workplace reforms. You will bring your legal expertise and understanding of relevant legislation to support research, review existing legal and regulatory frameworks, identify gaps and develop recommendations for reform. You will be part of a Sattva team supporting the research and analysis, while taking ownership of the legal review and contributing to high-quality, actionable recommendations.
This role offers an opportunity to apply your legal expertise to a public-purpose engagement and contribute to meaningful policy and regulatory change.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Regulatory Research
● Research and review existing Acts, rules, regulations, government resolutions and policies relating to human resource management in the context of the Maharashtra Government.
● Analyse relevant legal and regulatory provisions to understand their implications, identify gaps, inconsistencies and areas requiring reform.
● Review relevant precedents, government policies and frameworks to inform recommendations.
Analysis
● Conduct relevant quantitative/qualitative analysis on the data sets on a periodic basis to cull out meaningful insights and build a narrative that addresses the program objectives.
● Present insights in a concise and meaningful manner to various types of stakeholders.
● Curate data based reports to enable informed decision making.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Collaboration
● Work closely with senior government stakeholders and the Sattva project team to understand requirements and support the engagement.
● Engage with relevant stakeholders to gather inputs, validate findings and incorporate feedback into recommendations.
● Take ownership of assigned workstreams, ensuring quality, accuracy and timely delivery of outputs.
● Work collaboratively with the Sattva research and consulting team to integrate analysis with broader project findings and recommendations.
Qualifications and experiences
● 4-6 years of experience in consulting, social enterprises, consulting firms or global foundations.
● A degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) is mandatory. A postgraduate qualification in law, public policy or a related field would be an added advantage.
● Significant relevant experience in HR & labour compliances, legal research, legislative or regulatory review, policy advisory, or related areas. Prior experience working with government, public institutions or on public policy engagements would be highly desirable.
● Prior experience of working in a multi-stakeholder environment will be an added advantage.
● Written and verbal fluency in Marathi would be desirable.
● Self-driven, curious, and adaptable personality with the ability to produce high-quality results.
● Willingness to work from client location, 5 days a week, if required / travel to remote locations as per the requirements of the project.
