About the Opportunity


A highly respected and established construction company in Alabama is seeking an experiencedConstruction Superintendent to lead field operations on complex commercial and healthcare construction projects in the Montgomery market.


This is a key leadership position for a superintendent who understands that successful healthcare construction requires more than traditional commercial building experience. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge ofmechanical systems, MEP coordination, infection-control requirements, phasing, occupied facilities, and healthcare construction standards, along with the ability to lead subcontractors and field teams safely and efficiently.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day field operations for commercial and healthcare construction projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, including short-term and look-ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other MEP systems with architectural and structural scopes.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to identify potential field conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Maintain a high level of quality control throughout all phases of construction.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
  • Manage construction activities in active or occupied healthcare environments while minimizing disruption to patients, staff, and facility operations.
  • Coordinate infection-control measures, life-safety requirements, shutdowns, temporary services, and phased construction when applicable.
  • Conduct regular subcontractor coordination meetings and daily field meetings.
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, material deliveries, equipment, and overall project progress.
  • Identify schedule risks and work proactively with the Project Manager and project team to develop solutions.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional jobsite.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, project documentation, schedules, and field records.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to assistant superintendents, foremen, and other field personnel.

Ideal Candidate


The ideal candidate is an experiencedCommercial Construction Superintendent who has successfully managed complex projects and has a strong understanding ofmechanical construction and healthcare environments.


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably in a superintendent or senior field leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial construction projects.
  • Strong mechanical/MEP coordination experience.
  • Healthcare construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in occupied healthcare facilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, and construction best practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining schedule and quality expectations.
  • Proficiency with construction technology and scheduling/document-management platforms.
