Job Description

Join our Global Workplace Projects team and contribute to one of The LEGO Group's major expansion projects in NyÃregyháza. In this role, you will serve as the on-site safety expert, partnering with project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure construction activities are executed safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with LEGO standards and local regulations.Â
The position is based in NyÃregyháza, Hungary, and requires a permanent on-site presence. No relocation assistance is offered for this position.Â
Core ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Conduct safety compliance evaluations, inspections, audits, and site reviews to ensure safe project execution.Â
- Monitor and evaluate safety performance across contractors, consultants, and project partners.Â
- Review contractor safety standards, procedures, risk assessments, and site practices.Â
- Advise project teams on contractual, legal, and regulatory safety requirements and obligations.Â
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project safety risks through proactive intervention and coaching.Â
- Collaborate closely with project, security, and sustainability teams to align project objectives and strengthen overall project governance.Â
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve safety performance.Â
- Deliver safety training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing activities to project teams and contractors.Â
- Promote safety leadership and ensure best practices are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.Â
- Maintain a visible on-site presence to support day-to-day construction activities and drive a strong safety culture.Â

The Global Workplace Projects team is responsible for delivering strategic manufacturing expansion and workplace infrastructure projects across The LEGO Group. Safety is a fundamental component of every project and plays a critical role in ensuring successful project delivery.Â
As Construction Safety Manager, you will report to the Head of GWP Construction Safety and serve as a key member of the NyÃregyháza project team. You will work closely with project leaders, contractors, consultants, security partners, and sustainability specialists to ensure construction activities are performed safely and in accordance with company standards and local regulatory requirements.Â
Success in this role requires strong construction safety expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence others through collaboration, practical solutions, and visible leadership on site.Â
Do You Have What It Takes?Â
EducationÂ
- Recognised Occupational Health & Safety qualification or equivalent professional certification.Â
Must-Have QualificationsÂ
- Minimum 10 years of safety experience within construction, industrial, petrochemical, or other high-risk industries.Â
- Proven experience supporting large-scale construction or capital investment projects.Â
- Strong knowledge of construction safety management and contractor oversight.Â
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.Â
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 principles and auditing practices.Â
- Understanding of Hungarian construction regulations, approval processes, permitting requirements, and related legislation.Â
- Experience advising on legal, commercial, and contractual safety matters within the construction industry.Â
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Â
- Ability to influence project teams and contractors through collaboration and coaching.Â
- Experience delivering safety training and awareness programs.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Hungarian.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience working in international project organizations.
- Previous involvement in manufacturing facility expansion projects.
- Experience working with multiple contractors within a complex construction environment.
- Knowledge of sustainability and security interfaces within major construction projects.
- Professional certifications related to construction safety management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and risk-based approach.Â
- Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices.Â
