Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager (CM) to join our Facilities Engineering, Design & Construction (EDC) organization in Englewood, CO.
In Facilities, we strive to be our Customers' Mission Partner and Service Provider of Choice and our CMs will have a key role on our team. CMs will work as part of a project team and be paired up with one or more project managers. Since jobsite oversight is your core responsibility, your ability to articulate status clearly and concisely is critical to hold contractors accountable, while maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
The ideal CM has project experience in various sectors throughout the defense, aerospace, life sciences, and manufacturing sectors managing work between $20K-$15M. The CM will have a diverse projects so he/she must be a problem solver with a focus on affordability by driving efficient solutions to meet schedules/budgets. You will ensure safety remains paramount at each jobsite and review and approve all coordination in partnership with stakeholders.
For you to be successful, you must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced work environment with evolving requirements that will require focus and follow through on your commitments in a timely manner. A qualified CM will be organized, efficient, and demonstrate a calm and professional demeanor at all times.
Projects will be located throughout San Diego County and daily travel from sites is normal, therefore reliable transportation is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages construction in adherence with the contract documents, project budget and schedule, regularly communicating with the Project Manager.
- Creates and/or monitors project schedules, timelines, and milestones from permitting phase through closeout to achieve goals.
- Facilitates and/or attends various meetings including, but not limited to, OAC’s, internal project update meetings, scheduling and project controls meetings, lessons learned, etc.
- Utilizes various software to track schedules and budgets.
- Assists in the development of Statements of Work, including detailed descriptions of tasks and materials necessary to complete the project.
- Provides weekly safety reports for assigned job sites and maintains compliance with safety policies and procedures (i.e., hot work permits, utility outage requests, fire system test/disable requests, trenching/excavation permits, crane picks, etc.).
- Reviews construction progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building code, and industry standards.
- Collaborates with contractors, designers, security, EH&S, technical maintenance, and internal subject matter experts to address issues during construction.
- Responsible for follow up with assignees to ensure timely RFI and submittal responses.
- Reviews and provides validation of change orders prior to submission to Project Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and nine or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least three of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- CCM and/or PMP certification highly desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project required.
- Experience with cloud-based construction management platforms (i.e. Procore, Auto Desk, or equal) required.
- Experience as an owner’s representative desired.
- Experience with ICD 705 and accreditation requirements.
- Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Understanding of MEP systems (medium voltage distribution, process piping, humidification systems, building automation systems, etc.) desirable.
- Must be able to work in high pressure environment with extensive experience in negotiation, relationship building, and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
- Must possess:
- the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects;
- the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a wide range of issues;
- strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation and interpersonal skills; and
- the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
