Job Description

Connected Worker Engineer - Decatur, IL

The Connected Worker Engineer serves as the technical resource for Connected Worker solutions across ADM manufacturing operations, partnering with Operations, Global Technology (GT), vendors, and development teams to translate operational needs into scalable digital solutions. This role guides solution design, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement while ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, supportability, and long-term sustainability.
The ideal candidate is a technically minded problem solver who can translate business and operational requirements into technology solutions. They are comfortable collaborating with Global Technology teams on enterprise applications, APIs, IAM, cloud technologies, databases, historians, and manufacturing data flows to define requirements, validate solutions, and support successful delivery of business outcomes.

Required Skills & Competencies
Business & Technical Analysis
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements.
  • Develop user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, and solution documentation.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, operations teams, developers, vendors, and Global Technology teams.
  • Translate technical concepts into business language and business needs into technical requirements.
Enterprise Systems & Integration
  • Write functional specifications and partner with GT design and engineering teams to implement Connected Worker applications and supporting integrations.
  • Develop test scripts and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Understand how systems, data, identities, and applications interact across OT, IT, cloud, and third-party SaaS environments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve solution design, reduce technical debt, and increase long-term supportability.
  • Support tablet and mobile device deployments and work with GT to resolve IAM, connectivity, and role-based security issues.
  • Define integration requirements and validate delivered solutions meet operational needs.
  • Ability to participate in technical discussions regarding integrations, system dependencies, and architecture decisions with GT.
Data & Architecture
  • Understanding of relational databases, industrial historians, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Understanding of how data is collected, ingested, transformed, stored, and consumed across systems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data flows across OT, IT, and cloud environments.
  • Understanding of Purdue Model concepts and industrial data architecture.
  • Familiarity with database types, data acquisition methods, communication protocols, and common data structures.
Testing & Delivery
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test scripts, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience managing requirements, backlogs, priorities, and release activities.
  • Support deployment planning, solution validation, and continuous improvement efforts.
