Conductor - Lolita Packaging

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE

• To efficiently & safely perform the duties of Conductor at Lolita Packaging, LLC.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Maintain logbook & relieve Shift properly
• Inspect equipment & railcars for damage
• Report all repairs needed to Supervision promptly
• Complete all shift inspections
• Read and understand switch lists
• Determine most efficient plan for switching duties
• Determine the most efficient use of Locomotive for switching duties
• Prepare accurate train list
• Operate locomotive safely & efficiently
• Operate yard and track switches
• Respond to switching requests in a professional timely manner
• Ensure locomotive inspection check is done properly
• Guide activity of brakeman
• Ensure safety of switching operation
• Perform air brake test
• Comply with NGT (Nothing Touch the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits
• Be active in Operation Clean Sweep and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal
• To be knowledgeable in all duties performed by a Bulk Loader
• Will abide by the Quality Policy regarding ISO 9000 and will abide by the Environmental, Health and Safety requirements as they pertain to ISO 14001
• Work outside normal shift hours as needed
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Other duties as assigned

III. QUALIFICATIONS

• Education
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
• Previous Related Experience Required
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum of one-year railroad switching experience as a conductor, or switching foreman utilizing locomotive as switching power
• Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
  • Understanding of locomotive and railcar movements, couple and uncouple railcars, perform switching operations, and position railcars on designated tracks
  • Understand hand signals, radio communications, movement instructions, track designations, and procedures for coordinating movements with other personnel
  • Safety Certification or safety classes a plus but not required
  • Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn
  • Willingness to take over areas of responsibilities
