PGS Worldwide is seeking aSecret-Cleared Computer Systems Architect in San Diego, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will design, integrate, secure, automate, and sustain complex classified and unclassified computing environments supporting software development and test operations across Linux, Windows, VMware, networking, and containerized infrastructure.
Required Skills
- Interim Secret clearance or higher required prior to starting.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Advanced hands-on experience administering and troubleshootingRed Hat Linux environments.
- In-depth Linux troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Linux utilities and command-line tools such as awk, grep, and related system tools.
- Experience withLDAP / Red Hat Directory Server (RHDS).
- Advanced experience with system hardening.
- Experience implementing and maintainingSTIGs.
- Experience usingSplunk.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Experience with DNS, includingLinux BIND.
- Scripting or programming experience using:
- Bash/Shell
- Ansible
- Python
- Experience designing, implementing, or sustaining complex computer-system architectures.
- Experience supporting heterogeneous Linux, Windows, and virtualized environments.
- Experience performing hardware/software installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Ability to review technical requirements and incorporate them into end-to-end system architectures.
- Experience configuring networks and coordinating technical activities with engineers, SMEs, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with considerable technical responsibility.
- Ability to work fully onsite in San Diego.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with system imaging, backup, and restore technologies such as Clonezilla or Linux dump.
- Experience leading technical efforts and coordinating engineering tasking.
- Experience withDocker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Strong experience with virtualization technologies such as:
- VMware
- KVM
- Hyper-V
- Red Hat Virtualization
- Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience designing and supporting containerized infrastructure.
- Networking and network-systems experience, including iSCSI connectivity.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to recommend improvements to technical procedures, infrastructure, and engineering processes.
- Ability to support flexible schedules, including occasional 2nd-shift, Friday, or weekend support when required.
What You’ll Do
- Design and define system architectures for complex development and test networks.
- Support large classified and unclassified computing environments.
- Work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and technicians in laboratory environments.
- Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, repair, monitor, and tune infrastructure.
- Support Linux, Windows, VMware, networking, and virtualization environments.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-support tools.
- Implement system-hardening and security requirements.
- Maintain system documentation and infrastructure-support procedures.
- Support software-development and test-automation teams.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into existing systems.
- Implement engineering changes to computing environments.
- Review and translate technical requirements into end-to-end architectures.
- Complete network configurations and coordinate implementation with technical peers and government engineering personnel.
- Support general system sustainment and security activities.
Work Schedule / Shift
- Full-time onsite in San Diego, California.
- 9/80A schedule.
- Approximately10% travel.
Pay
- $120.00 per hour.
