OVERVIEW:
The Preschool Teacherposition at Community Seedlings Preschool is responsible for providinginstructionto children ages 2½ to 5½ years ofage. Seedlingsisa Reggio-Emiliainspiredprogram with a focus on nature-basedlearningand education.Preschool Teachers are responsible for encouraging children's curiosity and excitement forlearning.
Servingasco-researchers, Preschool Teachers at Community Seedlingssupportthecuriosityand excitement forlearningthatisinherentineverychild. They recognize and honor children'snaturalquesttounderstand their placeinthe world around them. This islearnedthrough play, smallgroupprojects, dialogue,journaling, reflection,and documentation of children'swork.PreschoolTeachers encouragealoveoflearningthrough exploration of art, STEM work, math, social studies, literacy, andtheenvironments of both the indoor and outdoor classrooms.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Toperform this job successfully, anindividualmust be abletoperformeach essential function satisfactorily.Essentialfunctions include but are notlimitedto the following:
- Assist inmaintaining a safe andcleanlearning environment that supports exploration and discovery in both indoor and outdoor classrooms.
- Develop a positiverelationshipwitheach child andfamily members.
- Plan and prepare learningmaterials such as provocations and natural materials that encourage children to explore and wonder.
- Ensure thatboth indoorandoutdoorclassroomenvironments havethenecessary materials available to facilitate meaningful play, active exploration and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Ensure appropriate guidanceand supervision ofchildren ineachlearning environment.
- Maintain documentation of children's learning and development through observation notes.
- Prepare materialsneeded for parentconferences to communicate children's growth and progress.
- Observe children daily to assessand support individual developmentandfacilitatelearning.
- Check emaildailyandrespondwithina timely manner.
- Participate in professional development activities andapply that learningintheclassroom.
- Maintain andfoster acooperativeand positive attitude while working with children, families,andthe community.
- Display a sincere,nurturingandcaring attitude toward all children, families and colleagues.
- Demonstrate an awareness of individual families' cultureand ensure aculturally consistent environment for all children and families.
- Demonstrate ability toteach childrenfrom diverse cultural andeconomic andbackgrounds by implementing inclusive, culturally responsive and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Followall Mandated Reporter requirements and school safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the classroom and school community.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Highschooldiploma or equivalent *Bachelors preferred
- Teaching Permit/or aminimum of 12 ECEunits
- Knowledgeof early childhood development
- Minimum of 3 yearsofexperienceworking withchildren
- Knowledge of computersoftwareand applicationsneeded to performessential
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Must pass fingerprint clearance, TB test, pre-employment physical, and provide immunization record of measles and pertussis vaccines.
- Must complete required training upon hire:CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and Sexual Harassment.
