Community Engagement Support (Temporary)
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Coordinator Support Role plays a key role in creating a welcoming, organized, and mission-centered experience for all volunteers at Thistle Farms. This role supports the Volunteer Engagement Team with day-to-day operations, including welcoming volunteers, assisting with group facilitation, and helping ensure smooth and positive volunteer experiences.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, staying organized, and supporting meaningful community engagement in a trauma-informed environment.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Setting up and resetting volunteer stations before and after group shifts.
- Greeting and welcoming volunteers upon arrival with warmth and professionalism.
- Assisting with check-in processes (sign-in, waivers, etc.).
- Assists with providing instructions to volunteers, answering questions, retrieving necessary supplies
- Assists with organizing materials and maintaining volunteer project supplies inventories.
- Leads volunteer shifts, as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Observes group needs and communicate any issues to staff.
- Assists with administrative tasks such as filing, preparing volunteer materials and group project instructions.
- Supports light data entry or tracking tasks as directed by staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
Experience with public speaking and working with diverse groups of people are essential. Degree and/or certifications in communication, volunteerism, and nonprofit organization management preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods (2–4 hours)
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (light setup and breakdown tasks)
- Ability move throughout facilities, including moving up and down stairs; the ability to hear, speak, write and type.
