AWS Developer Experience is looking for a Community Manager to own the community ecosystem and partnership strategy for the AWS Builder Loft in Berlin. Builder Lofts are physical developer community spaces where builders come together for hands-on workshops, hackathons, technical talks, mentorship, and networking.
This role is critical for establishing the Builder Loft as a trusted home for Berlin’s developer community through proactive, structured partnerships and programming that drives sustained engagement and growth. You will be actively building a pipeline of recurring local tech events, managing strategic partnerships with developer communities, technology companies, VCs, accelerators, and academic institutions, and coordinating with AWS internal teams to deliver high-quality experiences.
This is a high-impact role that requires a community builder who combines genuine developer community credibility with operational rigor, thinks locally while connecting globally, and understands what makes Berlin’s tech ecosystem distinct. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to build community playbooks, mechanisms, and scalable frameworks that allow the Loft to operate with consistency and authenticity. You leverage existing community networks and grassroots relationships to multiply your impact.
You will work cross-functionally with Solution Architects, Developer Advocates, Startup Teams, Marketing, and Partner Network teams to build repeatable community development strategies for a rapidly scaling global program.
Key job responsibilities
- Own programming strategy end to end: design and curate an event calendar with relevant content to the local developer audience
- Develop and execute a community recruitment and growth strategy targeting notable local community leaders, developers, AI builders, students, and early-career professionals in the Berlin market
- Establish, develop and maintain a partnership network of recurring community event organizers
- Implement structured frameworks, programs, playbooks and mechanisms to scale engagement with hundredths of communities
- Maintain active communication with Builder Loft event organizer and attendee community
- Gather ongoing community feedback, iterate on programming, and share lessons with Builder Loft peers in other cities
- Own community engagement metrics tracking and optimization
- Support event management operations
- Identify opportunities to amplify community voices through AWS marketing channels (e.g. blog posts, video content, customer stories, and social media)
- Support content curation by identifying trending topics, community interests, and builder needs;
- Create online content enabling awareness of the Builder Loft and efficient community engagement
- Collaborate with Marketing on community channel promotion, audience targeting, and co-marketing with partners
About the team
Our mission is to empower every builder to learn, share, and lead at every stage of their cloud journey. We accomplish this by creating programs that empower and recognize technical thought leaders for their contribution to the greater AWS Community.
Basic qualifications
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience managing or working within cross-functional marketing and creative teams
- Experience working with partners through account, product or program management and business development engagements
- Experience in event management, operations and logistics coordination
- 3+ years of professional experience in community management, developer relations, event programming, or partnership development
- Experience building and scaling community engagement programs, including recruitment strategies and structured outreach frameworks
- Track record of designing, curating and executing event programming for technical audiences
- Experience creating written content for digital channels (blogs, social media, newsletters, or community platforms)
- Experience building scalable playbooks, mechanisms, and frameworks to manage engagement across large numbers of community partners
Preferred qualifications
- Active standing in the Berlin developer community as an organizer, speaker, or contributor
- Familiarity with community-led growth strategies and grassroots marketing
- Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools to drive efficiency, personalization, and scale
- Fluent English; professional German
- Enough technical fluency to be credible with builders; a hands-on development background is a plus
- Experience operating or programming a physical community space
