Hardenbergh Insurance Group is seeking a motivated and entrepreneurial Business Development Specialist to join our growing sales team.
In this role, you'll develop new business opportunities, cultivate long-term client relationships, and serve as a trusted advisor to businesses seeking Property & Casualty insurance solutions. You'll exercise independent judgment, drive revenue growth, and play a direct role in the continued success of the agency.
What You'll Do:
Business Development & Relationship Building
- Prospect and develop new Property & Casualty business opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with business owners, executives, and key decision-makers
- Educate prospective clients on risk management strategies and insurance solutions
- Schedule and conduct meetings with qualified prospects
- Develop referral relationships and centers of influence within the community
New Business Production
- Gather prospect information and conduct insurance needs assessments
- Complete applications and coordinate submissions with the internal marketing team
- Collaborate with internal resources to develop competitive insurance solutions
- Prepare and present proposals to prospective clients
- Document sales activity, opportunities, and communications within Epic
- Guide clients through the sales process from prospecting through implementation
Client Retention & Book Management
- Maintain and grow an assigned book of business
- Conduct proactive annual renewal reviews with clients
- Partner with Account Managers to identify service needs and growth opportunities
- Present renewal options and strategic recommendations
- Build long-term relationships that drive retention and organic growth
- Assist with collection efforts for past-due balances in accordance with agency procedures
Professional Development & Community Engagement
- Attend sales meetings and training programs
- Stay current on insurance products, market trends, and industry developments
- Represent the agency through participation in community, professional, and industry organizations
- Develop expertise in Property & Casualty insurance and risk management strategies
- Support agency initiatives and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of business development, sales, insurance, or related experience required
- Active New Jersey Property & Casualty Producer License required
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance meeting agency requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with business leaders
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams
- Demonstrated interest in sales, relationship management, and business development

Compensation & Benefits
*Remote on Fridays
Target Salary: $60,000- $90,000 base salary, plus incentive compensation
