Program Driver

Position Overview

The Program Driver plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the Freedom House residential recovery program. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide safe, reliable transportation for residents and their children to work, medical appointments, court appearances, school or childcare activities, program activities, and other approved destinations.

In addition to transportation duties, the Program Driver assists program staff with errands and other day-to-day needs that help the program operate efficiently and allow residents to focus on their recovery, families, and progress toward independence.

The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, patient, and comfortable working with mothers and children in a residential recovery environment. This individual should have good judgment, a positive attitude, and the ability to respond appropriately when schedules or circumstances change unexpectedly.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents and their children to and from work, medical and counseling appointments, court appearances, school or childcare activities, program activities, and other approved destinations.
• Coordinate with program staff regarding daily transportation schedules, priorities, and changes.
• Assist with program-related errands, including picking up medications, supplies, groceries, donations, or other items as needed.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect the confidentiality and privacy of residents and their children.
• Communicate promptly with program staff regarding transportation issues, scheduling conflicts, resident concerns, or other matters requiring attention.
• Follow all Freedom House policies and procedures, including those related to resident safety, confidentiality, transportation, and medication handling.
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Ability to safely operate program vehicles and transport adults and children.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to manage a changing daily schedule.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to meet any applicable organizational and insurance requirements for operating Freedom House vehicles.
