
Quality Engineer
Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Quality Engineer ensures the quality of all products—both manufactured and purchased—by reviewing customer specifications, developing and maintaining quality documentation, performing audits, and investigating non-conformances. This role supports both internal and external customers and contributes to overall quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES
Acted as the Quality Assurance lead for small to medium complexity projects, working in close collaboration with internal project teams to deliver comprehensive internal and external quality support.
Develop and apply quality engineering skills, including ITP creation, auditing and continuous improvement
Participate in internal project transfer, customer kick-off, coordination, and pre-inspection meetings
Provide Quality Assurance support to internal customers, including Project Management, Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Purchasing
Provide project Quality Assurance support to external customers
Facilitate customer witness of testing and inspections activities
Deliver simple to moderately complex quality solutions for assigned tasks and projects
Own the completion of assigned task through effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
Conduct quality audits and continuous improvement projects
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 8D problem-solving processes to identify, correct, and prevent recurrence of quality issues
Facilitate Manufacturing Review Board (MRB) meetings to push for closure of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs)
Develop basic knowledge of all Elliott products and processes, including Quality Assurance related inputs and outputs
Communicate clearly and respectfully to ensure effective and straightforward information exchange across the organization
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or similar discipline).
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience as a Quality Engineer.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods and procedures, inspection equipment, nondestructive testing techniques and quality engineering including analytical skills.
Working knowledge of quality engineering principles.
Knowledge of operational processes in defined area of work and familiarity with industry practice and standards.
Preferred: Pursuing or gaining experience toward a Quality Certification such as American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE, CQA, CQT, CQM, CRE or Six Sigma Black Belt.
