Position Overview

Arizona's Morning News is the flagship morning program on KTAR News 92.3 FM —Arizona's largest and most respected award-winning news radio station. The show airs live weekdays from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and is simulcast on audio and video via KTAR.com the KTAR News app an on KTAR YouTube.

As the Morning News Producer, you will be the engine behind every broadcast: planning, building, and executing a fast-paced, all-news program from start to finish. You'll coordinate guests, craft segments, direct breaking-news coverage, and serve as the real-time "air traffic controller" who keeps the show moving. Beyond the on-air product, you will identify and produce video elements from the show for distribution across social media platforms, extending the program's reach and impact throughout the day.

This is a high-energy role for someone who thrives on early mornings, quick decisions, and the daily challenge of delivering the news that matters most to Arizona.This is an onsite position based at our Phoenix location and has a schedule of 3 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Note:Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

• This position is an in-studio, onsiterole that requires the employee to regularly work at our Phoenixsite. The producer’s schedule will align with the show’s live broadcast window, with prep time beginning earlier in the day.  Some flexibility for breaking news or special event coverage may be required.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

Show Production & Execution

§  Work with show hosts daily to plan and prepare the morning news program.

§  Own the show rundown: review, stack, and approve all content before air.

§  Serve as the in-show “guide”, directing hosts through breaking stories, segment changes, and real-time editorial decisions.

§  Craft and review segments, story packages, guest lineups, and breaking-news coverage.

Guest Booking & Content Development

§  Act as lead booker for program guests (in person and virtual).

§  Write and voice stories for the morning program and for use throughout the broadcast day.

§  Quickly turn guest interview segments into polished news stories for in-show use.

§  Reach out proactively on new, breaking, and developing stories.

Video & Social Media

§  Identify compelling video moments from the live broadcast and produce short-form video elements for distribution across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).

§  Manage the program’s social media accounts with timely, engaging posts.

§  Produce promotional audio and video content from the daily program.

Collaboration & Cross-Platform

§  Maintain daily contact and collaborate with digital teams.

§  Communicate across the newsroom with reporters, editors, talk-show producers, hosts, and the digital team.

§  Anchor or fill in as a news host when needed.

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

§  Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, mass communications, or a related media field preferred.

§  Minimum of 2 years of newsroom experience required; minimum 2 years as a news editor or producer preferred.

§  Sound editorial instincts with the ability to simplify press releases, government documents, and law enforcement information for a general audience.

§  Excellent verbal and written skills, with a conversational yet professional news delivery style.

§  Proficiency in audio editing (Adobe Audition, Newsboss Audio Editor, or similar); basic video editing skills for social media content creation. Experience with Newsboss news software preferred.

§  Strong command of social media platforms, trends, and best practices for news content.

§  Multilingual skills preferred; Spanish-language speaking and writing a plus.

§  Self-starter who thrives in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.

Physical Demands

§  Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.

§  Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.

§  Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Compensation

$19.10/Hr - $24.40/Hr.Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
