At AION, we’re building sci-fi medical devices.
Our mission is to bring aging under full biomedical control. We believe this can be achieved through closed-loop hardware that reads and writes biological states in living tissue using electromagnetic and acoustic fields.
We're looking for exceptional scientists and engineers to join us in building machines that make aging optional.
The Role
As a Magnetics Engineer at AION, you will:
Design programmable electropermanent magnet systems for our next-generation low-field MRI platforms
Develop magnetic circuits, array geometries, switching coils, and drive architectures
Model nonlinear magnetic materials and complete magnet systems using analytical and finite-element methods
Develop computational optimization methods for programmable field strength and spatial field geometry
Design fast, repeatable field transitions for field-cycling MRI and relaxometry
Integrate magnetic sensing, calibration, power electronics, and control into closed-loop field programming
Work directly with MRI, mechanical, electrical, and computational engineers from simulation through physical prototypes
You
We value mission alignment, integrity, and ambition over pedigree.
Strong first-principles thinker across electromagnetics, magnetic materials, computation, and hardware
Deep intuition for permanent magnets, magnetic circuits, hysteresis, saturation, and magnetization
Strong computational modeling, numerical optimization, and scientific programming ability
Experience with permanent magnets, electropermanent magnets, motors, actuators, MRI magnets, accelerator magnets, or related systems
Comfortable moving quickly between simulation, electronics, fabrication, characterization, and experimental systems
Exceptional technical ownership and willingness to work on hard, unsolved problems
