The OpportunityÂ
The Fairburn Campus in Fairburn, Georgia of Georgia Military College invites applications for two full-time Assistant Professor positions in Mathematics. We welcome experienced professionals, recent master’s graduates, and early-career educators with a foundation in mathematics, a commitment to student success, and an interest in growing as college mathematics instructors.Â
Teaching and Faculty ResponsibilitiesÂ
Teach mathematics courses aligned with approved credentials; help students strengthen quantitative reasoning, mathematical understanding, and confidence.Â
Plan organized instruction, engage students actively, assess learning, and provide timely feedback.Â
Support students through office hours and appropriate academic guidance and referrals.Â
Collaborate with faculty and academic leaders on course quality, curriculum, assessment, and student success.Â
Participate in professional development, committee work, and other assigned faculty responsibilities.Â
GMC-Funded Faculty DevelopmentÂ
A master’s degree is required; it does not have to be in mathematics. Candidates with an MAT, a master’s in mathematics education, or another education or related master’s degree may be considered if they have completed graduate mathematics coursework demonstrating a foundation for instruction, as determined by Academic Affairs.Â
Candidates who have not completed 18 semester hours of qualifying graduate mathematics coursework must complete an approved graduate coursework plan to reach that requirement. GMC will cover the cost of approved graduate coursework needed to meet the required mathematics teaching certification. The plan and completion timeline will be established with Academic Affairs.Â
Initial teaching assignments require Academic Affairs’ review and approval of the candidate’s current credentials. Additional assignments depend on completion and approval of the required coursework.Â
Teaching ScheduleÂ
GMC operates on an accelerated quarter system offering five terms per year. This is a full-time, annually renewable faculty position with a 10-month teaching schedule and an annual salary paid over 12 months. Faculty teach 20 credit hours per quarter during Fall 1, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Regular evening teaching is required; day and/or weekend assignments may also be required based on institutional needs.Â
Teaching is not required during June and July. Faculty who teach during the summer term receive additional compensation in accordance with the adjunct faculty pay scale.Â
Salary and Benefits
The annual base salary ranges from $45,000 to $48,900, with an additional $500 for each year of qualifying, relevant full-time experience, as reviewed and verified by Human Resources. Relevant experience may include K–12 teaching, higher education teaching, or professional experience related to the discipline and position. Eligible employees have access to the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) and GMC’s employee benefits package.Â
Application Materials and Employment RequirementsÂ
Apply through the official GMC Paycom posting. Application packets must include a curriculum vitae or rĂ©sumĂ©, statement of teaching philosophy, completed GMC application, unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended, and contact information for three references.Â
Application review begins immediately and continues until the positions are filled. Annual renewal is subject to availability of classes and satisfactory job performance. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen before beginning employment.Â
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future. This faculty position carries no military service obligation.Â
