Position Overview
Infosys/State Street is seeking an experiencedCOBOL Developer to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise mainframe applications in a financial services environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience withCOBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and mainframe application development, along with excellent debugging, production support, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhanceCOBOL-based mainframe applications.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Develop and maintainCOBOL programs, JCL jobs, DB2 SQL, and CICS transactions.
- Perform application debugging, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
- Supportproduction deployments, incident management, and application maintenance.
- Develop and execute unit, system, integration, and regression testing.
- Analyze existing legacy applications and implement required enhancements.
- Performimpact analysis and identify upstream/downstream application dependencies.
- Troubleshoot batch processing, job failures, database issues, and transaction-related problems.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain development and coding standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, application specifications, and implementation plans.
- Support release and deployment activities across development, testing, and production environments.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and other developers.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide development estimates and status updates.
- ProvideL3 production support and resolve critical application issues.
- 7+ years of hands-on Mainframe/COBOL development experience.
- Strong expertise inCOBOL programming.
- Strong experience withJCL and batch processing.
- Hands-on experience withDB2 and SQL.
- Strong knowledge ofCICS.
- Experience withVSAM and mainframe file processing.
- Experience with mainframe utilities such asSORT/DFSORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, and IEBCOPY.
- Experience withproduction support, incident management, and problem resolution.
- Strong debugging androot-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with SDLC, testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Ability to understand complex legacy applications and perform detailedimpact analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
