Coach - Cross Country and Track & Field
Purpose
Pine Crest School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and knowledgeable Cross Country and Track & Field Assistant Coaches to lead and develop our student-athletes. This position is ideal for someone passionate about distance running, sprints, field events, and building a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Assist in planning, organizing, and leading daily practices for cross country and track & field teams
- Develop training programs tailored to student-athletes of varying skill levels
- Coach athletes in proper techniques for running events, relays, and/or field events
- Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal accountability
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and team events
- Assist in coordinating meet schedules, travel logistics, and event entries
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and athletic association policies
- Maintain communication with student-athletes, parents, and school staff
- Foster an inclusive and supportive team environment
- Serve as a mentor, offering support and encouraging the mental and physical development of student-athletes
- Provides for a safe and secure environment as well as practices associated with the sport
- Promotes individual growth in traits such as teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship at all times
- Understands and implements all appropriate rules and regulations according to the sport guideline
- Maintains proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships
- Instructs student-athletes in the proper care and use of practice facilities, equipment, and uniforms
- Accompanies and supervises student-athletes during all activities associated with the sport
- Stays abreast of the latest advances in all facets of the sport
- Markets and promotes all athletic teams/programs at Pine Crest
- Supports the philosophy of the Athletic Department
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee

Bachelor’s degree preferred |

Experience and Qualifications |
Minimum 1 years’ experience in playing or coaching Cross Country or Track & Field  Strong leadership, motivational skills, and clear verbal/written communication  Strong knowledge of training principles, conditioning, and injury prevention Ability to teach, motivate and mentor high school student-athletes CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Availability for after-school practices and competitions (including some weekends) Preferred Qualifications: Experience competing in cross country or track & field (college or high school)Background in strength and conditioning or sports science  |
