New York City · Full time · In person · Co-founder

Build the company that delivers on the promise of market simulation. Own the path from a signed enterprise engagement to evidence a customer can use, and create the operating discipline that lets the business grow.

Compensation and timing

3%–5% equity. No cash salary is currently available. We are actively fundraising. A future market-competitive salary depends on financing and a separately agreed package; funding and timing are not guaranteed. The equity percentage, grant structure, vesting, dilution, and working arrangement must be agreed before joining. This is a founder-level opportunity with material financial risk.

About Subconscious

Subconscious is building the intelligence to run the economy. We start with a simulator for business decisions, using causal experiments on simulated markets to test products, pricing, messaging, and go-to-market choices before capital is committed. Our long-term ambition is to help businesses discover unmet demand and build around what people actually need.

Your mandate

Own a small portfolio of enterprise relationships through kickoff, delivery, executive readout, renewal, and expansion. Translate ambiguous objectives into a clear business decision, experiment scope, acceptance criteria, and accountable workstreams.

Build company operations across people, finance, vendors, legal, and security, coordinating the right specialists. Work directly with the founding team to make commitments, capacity, and cash needs visible. You will do the early work yourself and shape the operating team as resources become available.

Early priorities

  • Establish an engagement plan for each customer with the decision to be made, required data, deliverables, owners, dependencies, and commercial next step.

  • Create a shared delivery cadence that surfaces scope changes, missing data, product limitations, and security requirements early.

  • Develop executive readouts that explain findings, assumptions, uncertainty, and the decisions the evidence can support.

  • Build repeatable practices for kickoff, data intake, delivery, acceptance, renewal, and expansion.

  • Establish a practical operating rhythm for cash planning, vendor commitments, hiring priorities, and company accountability.

What success looks like

Customers understand what will be delivered and use the results to inform a decision. Risks surface before they become surprises. Delivery quality, time to value, acceptance, engagement economics, and renewal readiness are visible. The team can explain who owns each important commitment and what happens next. Specific targets will be agreed against the initial portfolio and available resources.

Experience that matters

  • You have led complex enterprise engagements in consulting, AI or data deployment, professional services, or an early-stage operating role.

  • You have taken an unclear executive request through implementation and can explain the measurable result and your personal contribution.

  • You build trust with senior customers and work fluently with research, engineering, product, and data teams.

  • You have made difficult scope, capacity, or commercial tradeoffs and communicated them before an engagement failed.

  • You create useful operating discipline and can do the work before hiring people to own it.

The working reality

This role is based in New York City and works in person. Expect hands-on customer work alongside company-building responsibilities. Resources are limited, priorities evolve, and you will need to make explicit choices about what happens first. The current role does not include visa sponsorship.

Start the conversation

Share a non-confidential example of an enterprise engagement or company process you owned: the original ambiguity, the decisions you made, the outcome, and what you learned. Come ready to discuss the product, funding status, ownership terms, and whether founder-level risk fits your circumstances.
