Job Title: Cloud Automation Engineer
Location: Durham, NC, 27709
Duration: 9 Months with Possible Extension
Work Mode: Onsite/ Contract
 
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to automate and improve infrastructure provisioning, software builds, deployments, and operations for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AWS infrastructure, Ansible automation, Linux, and CI/CD pipelines. This role will focus on improving software release processes, ensuring reliable deployments across environments, and collaborating with DevOps, application development, architecture, and database teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead automation efforts for infrastructure provisioning, application builds, and deployment activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Ansible playbooks and automation workflows.
  • Manage automation using Ansible Tower/AWX and YAML.
  • Support AWS infrastructure and Linux-based environments.
  • Design, implement, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Troubleshoot deployment failures and resolve automation and configuration issues.
  • Ensure consistent, reliable, and repeatable deployments across multiple environments.
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and automation best practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, deployment teams, DevOps engineers, and database administrators.
  • Improve software engineering processes, release management, and deployment reliability.
  • Validate configurations, document automation processes, and recommend improvements.
  • Provide on-call support during evenings and weekends as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud services.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible playbooks and automation.
  • Knowledge of Ansible Tower/AWX.
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in YAML and automation scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software release lifecycles.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting build, deployment, and configuration issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide evening and weekend on-call support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience improving automated deployment processes in enterprise application environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and release management.
  • Experience with configuration management and infrastructure provisioning automation.
  • Familiarity with application deployment across development, testing, and production environments.
