JOB SUMMARY:

About the role: Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, develops and supports medical aesthetics products and professional education for healthcare professionals. The Clinical Specialist is a field-based, healthcare-professional-facing education role within the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI). The role works primarily in aesthetic clinics, helping healthcare professionals translate formal AMI learning into everyday clinical practice through structured, hands-off, one-to-one facilitation, needs assessment, coaching and follow-up. This is not a patient-treating or product-sales position: the healthcare professional retains full clinical judgement and responsibility for patient care. The role also supports AMI educational events and requires regular local and national travel.

Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company (AA) has a duty to provide training on the safe and effective, on-label use of our products. The Allergan Aesthetics Clinical Specialist (CS) is an HCP-facing role within Allergan Medical Institute® (AMI) who facilitates HCP understanding of key learnings in-clinic. The CS will have required experience in Facial Aesthetics and will be trained to a high level of competency and skill. However, a clinical background/qualification is highly recommended for this role due to the clinical content and technical aspects covered with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs).

The CS offers 1:1 in-clinic facilitation tailored to educational need and aligned to the AMI Educational Journey. The CS will guide on patient and facial assessment aligned to the MD Codes™, HArmonyCa™ and any other relevant Facilitation Programme. The CS will also cover related anatomy, ageing and aseptic non-touch technique (ANTT) plus the implementation of injection techniques covered within the relevant AMI Curriculum undertaken. Experienced in consultative patient facilitation, they assess educational need aiming to fill knowledge and skills gaps. Taking the theory learned from the AMI educational programmes, they support implementation into practice in the clinical setting on completion of relevant and/or required AMI content e.g. MD Codes™ Immersion Curriculum for HCPs. Educational needs will be specific to the individual and based on mutually agreed knowledge/skills gaps. This needs assessment determines the individualized facilitation pathway for each HCP, and in relevant markets, other in-clinic staff such as Beauty Consultants and Patient Coordinators.

The CS will facilitate learning using approved AMI, and locally relevant, educational materials with an aim to support a standardised, repeatable methodology for patient assessment and treatment planning and for injection procedures aligned to defined AMI Infinity programme curricula related to Allergan Aesthetics brands. This is segmented based on each CS passing each stage of the ‘Clinical Specialist Learner Journey’ through formal exam and skills assessment.

KEY/ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.  Delivers In-Clinic Services

Identifies educational need and develops recommendations to enhance clinical practice in aesthetic practices through delivering a bespoke educational journey for each HCP enrolled on a Facilitation Pathway, and based on the HCP’s self-assessment of knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Number of supported clinics/HCPs will be ~30 but aligned with Affiliate-level strategic need; HCPs will be selected through cross-functional alignment between the National Sales Manager and the AMI Lead.

Establishes a bespoke AMI Infinity curricula-aligned Facilitation Pathway with the HCP in pursuit of supporting improved patient outcomes. Facilitation ishands-off and the HCP retains clinical judgement and responsibility for patient treatment. Focus will beBeginner andIntermediate HCPs, but other segments may require support as determined on educational need by the Area & Affiliate AMI Lead.

Maintains a high level of service through reliable and timely follow-up after any interaction with HCPs and records all activity in VEEVA CRM to allow for KPI monitoring.

As a fundamental part of the Facilitation Pathway with a CS, guides HCP educational curricula utilising AA AMI Digital World (AMIDW) to help improve the level of clinical knowledge around AA products for clinicians. This channel is the core AMI offering forBeginner injectors but holds value for all HCPs that a CS interacts with as part of their role. The CS is integral to driving uptake and utility of AMI DW.

2. Supports AMI Lead in AMI Event Delivery  

Supports with the delivery of key Affiliate-level AMI events & AMI operational tasks as requested by the AMI Lead. These include, but not limited to, attendance at industry conferences & AMI meetings/workshops & the MD Codes™ Mentee Programme, to engage with customers; educational content development and approvals; special project support and faculty management. This activity also supports CS self-development and upskilling. From time-to-time, CS may also assist backstage at an AMI event in a hands-off capacity (patient during the treatment and the medical procedure). 

• Bachelor’s degree in medical sciences, health sciences or another clinically based discipline as a foundational qualification. Relevant degrees may include medicine, nursing, dentistry, physiotherapy or clinical pharmacy.
• Minimum of three years’ relevant surgical or procedure-based clinical experience, with a proven track record of effective performance in a clinical environment.
• Demonstrated interest in medical aesthetics. Previous experience in facial aesthetics, aesthetic medicine or an aesthetics-related clinical setting is strongly preferred.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical-device industry is advantageous, particularly in a clinical specialist, professional education, training or customer-facing role.
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.

The following experience and capabilities will be advantageous:

• Proven facilitation, training or coaching capability, including the preparation and delivery of workshops or other learning solutions.
• Strong clinical communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work one-to-one with healthcare professionals in a consultative and educational capacity.
• Metrics-driven and administratively disciplined, with experience recording activity and managing follow-up in a CRM or comparable system.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel regularly for field-based work.
• Intermediate skills in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Experience in event management and supporting professional education programmes.
• Confident business English and strong written and verbal presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Other Requirements:

• Travel: 50% of the time, locally, nationally, and potentially internationally including overnight travel; some weekend work may be required periodically.
