Youth Worker Positions
Dene Godhe Ala Youth Center
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help plan and carry out Youth and Recreation programs and events.
- Assist with setting up and organizing activities for youth and recreation participants.Â
- Support staff and volunteers during youth and recreation activities.Â
- Help coordinate programming with other departments and groups.
- Assist with fundraising activities as directed.
- Help advertise Cold Lake First Nations Youth and Recreation programs and events.Â
- Work independently while maintaining a professional attitude and conduct.Â
- Be willing to work flexible hours, chaperone youth/athletes, and obtain required coaching certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.Â
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience or a strong interest in youth work, recreation, or physical education is required.
- Possess a valid relevant certification related to Youth or Recreation (e.g. First Aid, Coaching Certificate).
- Have general knowledge of policies and procedures for youth programming, and community involvement.Â
- Valid class 3 ot 5 Alberta's License and access to reliable vehicle.Â
- Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check and a Child Welfare Check.Â
- Basic computer knowledge and office skills required.Â
- Good verbal, and listening communication skills.Â
- Ability to work productively with various groups of people to achieve program objectives.Â
- Must be creative, resourceful, and able to handle challenging situations.Â
- Demonstrate dedication to the position and the community.Â
- A general knowledge of Cold Lake First Nations traditions, elders, culture, and dynamics is an asset.Â
Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday (12:00pm to 8:00pm) and Saturday to Sunday (11:00am to 7:00pm), with alternating weekends.
- Work in office atmosphere as well as outdoors.Â
- Work with challenging situations.Â
- Sitting, standing and being active for extended periods.Â
