The Claims and Compliance Specialist will lead efforts to reduce workers' compensation costs and prevent guest and employee injuries through claims management and regulatory compliance. Through extraordinary attention to detail and fostering a culture of safety and accountability, the Claims and Compliance Specialist will work directly with the insurance brokers and consultants to work toward the development, implementation, and maintenance of a greater risk management program.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities:
 Workers' Compensation Management
- Oversee all workers' compensation claims from initial reporting through closure, keeping a detailed log of all open claims.
- Coordinate with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, brokers, medical providers, and legal counsel
- Monitor claim trends and loss drivers
- Assist properties with return-to-work and modified duty programs ensuring compliance
- Assist management with injury investigations and claim documentation
- Review loss runs and provides consistent and detailed claim analysis to executive leadership
- Develop strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity
- Support restaurant manager training and orientation, with suggested safety program topics
- Investigate and report guest injury, food-related, property damage, and other liability claims
- Coordinate and maintain evidence preservation, witness statements, and documentation
- Review trends involving slips, trips, falls, burns, cuts, foodborne illness allegations, and security incidents
- Develop mitigation strategies to reduce liability exposure
- Ensure proper reporting and communication protocols are followed
 Loss Prevention and Security
- Collaborate with Operations and Finance to strengthen internal controls
- Evaluate security systems including CCTV, alarm monitoring, access controls, and emergency communications
- Work directly with insurance brokers, safety advisors, and consultants to understand compliance with Cal/OSHA, Health Department, Fire & Safety, IIPP, and other programs:

- Fire and Life Safety CodesÂ
- Hazard Communication requirements
- Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
- Workplace Violence Prevention requirementsÂ

- Emergency Action PlansÂ
- Maintain required documentation, logs, inspections, training records, and compliance reports as they are developed

- Be trained to be able to assist in worker’s compensation and safety training programs to onboarding managementÂ

- Partner with OSHA consultants and brokers to conduct property risk evaluations
- Partner with Facilities and Operations to help understand and assist with building compliance management and upkeep.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree or higher is preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting multi-location operations is welcomed
- California regulatory compliance experience preferred
- Communicate with others using logic and reasoning to identify issues and solutions, including alternative solutions or new approaches
- Be able to measure and monitor performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements, and be able to measure those improvements
- Communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the company
- Possesses excellent basic math skills
- Efficient in Microsoft Office, or other advanced computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to manage your own time without instruction
Working Conditions and Expectations:
- Work schedule will predominantly be Monday through Friday
- Shifts will range from 8-10 hours
- Office work that may require long periods of working aloneÂ
- May require travel, including frequent travel, between locations
- Ability to conduct inspections and investigations in all property areas
- Always act in a professional manner that represents the restaurant, owners, partners and staff
- Demonstrate teamwork with the management and office staff

- Be able to sit for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift to 20 pounds
- Extensive computer work that will require typing for long periods of time
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal business hours when required
