Project Description

Experienced organizational development specialists and program managers are invited to share their expertise with a youth-focused organization in Moldova.

“MilleniumM” Training and Development Institute supports the local youth to develop leadership skills. To reach the organization’s goal of supporting at least 1,000 youth by 2030, the team identified a critical need to develop its own skills. The team is particularly interested in HR policy and procedures, including terms of reference (ToR), roles and responsibilities of each team member, as well as other internal management documents. These skills will allow the team to effectively navigate common challenges facing non-governmental organizations in Moldova, including limited institutional capacity, high staff turnover, and professional development plan for each staff member.

As a Change Management Specialist, you will provide mentorship and specialized training on internal management, organizational efficiency, digital tools, and decision-making transparency. Alongside the institute’s staff, you will identify opportunities to refine operational processes and strengthen the team’s skillsets. Together, you will position the organization to improve service delivery and support its mission more effectively.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, including social science, education, business, management and organizational development.
AND
Three or more years of technical expertise in organizational capacity development and training, strategic planning, or results-based project management and reporting.

Living Conditions

Volunteers live primarily in independent apartments but may live with a host family if indicated and discussed ahead of time. Housing is located near the work site, but Volunteers should be aware that rush-hour commutes can take up to an hour.

Activities

Develop a strategic plan to improve organizational efficiency.
Assist senior management and staff to implement internal process improvements.
Develop and conduct training sessions and activities to strengthen the organization’s positive work environment with a culture built upon shared values​​.
Develop and conduct training sessions and activities to strengthen project management skills of staff and leadership.
Monitor and adjust the implemented strategies to ensure the sustainability of changes.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as English club for youth and youth development activities.

Training

After a two-week orientation, you will stay in the capital city where you will collaborate with the Millenium Institute staff. You will work with the partner to assess their needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.

Peace Corps/Moldova will equip you with basic Romanian language skills during the orientation and you may work with a local tutor who can continue building language skills to help you connect with the community.
