The Certified Athletic Trainer will work closely with orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, physical therapists, and other members of the care team to support patients throughout their recovery. This position offers a unique blend of responsibilities, including hands-on work in the orthopedic clinic and coverage for local high school and ski and snowboard programs.
The Athletic Trainer will help prevent, recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care for athletic injuries while supporting rehabilitation, reconditioning, and safe return to sport. The position also serves as an important connection among physicians, athletes, patients, coaches, parents, schools, and community partners.

What You’ll Do:
Orthopedic Clinic Support
Work alongside orthopedic surgeons and physician assistants to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Help maintain an efficient clinic flow and serve as a liaison among patients, providers, and the clinic team.
- Welcome and room patients, obtain vital signs and relevant histories, and accurately document and communicate findings to the physician or PA.
- Collaborate with the physician or PA regarding each patient’s evaluation and plan of care.
- Carry out treatments and recommendations directed by the physician or PA and within the Athletic Trainer’s scope of practice.
- Prepare patients for in-office procedures, provide education, and assist providers during procedures.
- Coordinate with surgery schedulers, authorization staff, physical therapy, and other hospital departments to support a seamless patient experience.
- Fabricate, fit, adjust, and remove orthopedic devices.
- Apply appropriate mobilization and immobilization devices.
- Assist with skin, skeletal, and manual traction as directed.
Sports Medicine Outreach
Provide athletic training coverage for designated high school home games and other events based on program agreements and departmental needs.
- Prevent, recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care for athletic injuries.
- Help ensure that athletes participate only when medically appropriate and that physician recommendations and activity restrictions are clearly understood and followed.
- Develop, maintain, and follow comprehensive emergency action plans specific to school athletic facilities and other locations used by the athletics program.
- Provide concussion education and training for coaches and other designated school personnel.
- Build collaborative relationships with athletic directors, coaches, parents, team physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate with the athletic director and department leadership to support appropriate coverage of the athletic training room and required events.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and maintain the standards established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association's (NATA) role delineation study.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.
- At least one year full-time work experience in either a hospital, clinic or office setting, working directly in the treatment of the orthopedic patient(s) preferred.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred.
- Completion of Orthopedic Technician program or one year experience in related field preferred.
- AT Residency or fellowship training preferred.
- Skilled in taping and fitting durable medical equipment, apply wound dressings, suture removal, and casting/splinting.
Job Information:
- Full-time, day shifts at our Mammoth and Bishop locations.
- Starting wage $37.37 to $45.30 based on qualifications.
