Join our Nottingham-based team as a Central Operations Manager, leading key operational support activities across Boots Opticians. You'll drive operational excellence, supplier management, governance, business continuity, and field support processes, ensuring our practices receive the tools, guidance, and support needed to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Head of Retail, the Central Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing operational processes, supplier relationships, governance reporting, and business continuity activities across the estate. This role acts as a key link between support office functions and practices, ensuring operational guidance is clear, effective, and consistently implemented.
Key responsibilities
- Managing the travel expenditure budget
- Negotiating and managing relationships with external suppliers to achieve best value and service.
- Producing monthly performance and cost-saving reports, identifying opportunities and supporting best-practice adoption.
- Overseeing the creation, maintenance, and communication of operational guidance, SOPs, and business updates.
- Developing monthly governance packs for Boot Opticians and UK Leadership Teams.
- Leading the quarterly self-audit programme across all practices to drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to guide and influence others.
- Strong relationship-building skills and experience working with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and confidently.
- Experience managing budgets and delivering cost-saving initiatives.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience working in a multi-site retail, healthcare, or service environment.
- Knowledge of governance, audit, or compliance processes.
- Experience supporting business continuity planning and implementation.
- Familiarity with GNFR supplier management and procurement processes.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional operational projects and communications.
