General Notes
This position will support the university’s new School of Computing, which includes 3 strong departments and more than 9,000 students across all programs. This places UT among the most significant intellectual hubs for computer science, information, and statistics and data science research and education anywhere in the world. The School of Computing has a close relationship with Austin’s thriving tech culture and works at the forefront of fields spanning artificial intelligence, robotics and quantum computing; data science, statistics and scientific discovery; cybersecurity and trustworthy computing; and human-centered technology, information, and the societal impacts of computing. The School is seeking an Enrollment Counselor – Lead Nurture & Application Administration to support the CDSO administrative team.
Computer and Data Science Online (CDSO) administers UT Austin’s nationally ranked, at-scale graduate portfolio: the Master of Computer Science (MSCS), Master of Artificial Intelligence (MSAI), Master of Data Science (MSDS) and a stackable four-course Graduate Certificate in AI/ML (CAIML). Together these affordable, high-quality programs enroll several thousand working-professional students each year and extend advanced technical education to a wide, diverse audience. The Enrollment Counselor joins a CDSO administrative team dedicated to guiding every learner—from first inquiry through graduation—along a clear, supportive pathway to success.
Purpose
Serve as the primary relationship manager for prospective students and, in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Admissions, run the administrative functions of the CDSO application process. Use data-driven lead-nurture strategies, ensure an efficient application review, and coordinate hand-offs to academic staff to maximize qualified applications and admitted applicant yield across CDSO’s at-scale programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized guidance to prospects via email and webinars, clarifying program fit, requirements, and next steps while steadily nudging them toward application completion.
- Execute a highly detailed admissions workflow for 10,000+ applications a year across Salesforce, Smartsheet, and UT systems—move applicants between stages, assign faculty readers, audit application cohort data, process cancellations, and coordinate decision-release communications.
- Create more efficient administrative processes by developing a thorough understanding of the admissions process and identifying opportunities to optimize existing procedures.
- Serve as the voice of the prospect for the marketing team: flag emerging questions, advise on high-value content, and copy-edit outbound materials to ensure accuracy and resonance.
- Drive application conversion: send targeted email nudges, monitor missing documents, and coach applicants through barriers until files are complete.
- Maintain expert knowledge of CDSO curricula, policies, tuition, and financing; resolve routine and complex inquiries while collaborating with admissions, registrar, and student-success teams to ensure seamless hand-offs.
- Represent CDSO through orientations, live Q&As, conferences, and partner events, consistently championing the programs’ access-and-affordability mission.
- Analyze funnel and student-success data to recommend access-oriented improvements and perform other related duties as program needs evolve.
