TheFood Cost & Inventory Systems Manager sits on the Business Technology team and owns the systems that underpin food cost (COGS) and inventory management at sweetgreen, from upstream suppliers, farmers, and lead logistics partners into our restaurants and through to our customers. This is a hands-on systems ownership role without direct reports. You will partner closely with Ops Services, Restaurant Operators, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure accurate, timely, and actionable food cost and inventory data across our fleet of 287+ restaurants nationwide. This role is based in-person a minimum of 4 days per week at our Los Angeles Support Center.
You will:
- Administer, configure, and maintain the platforms that manage COGS and inventory, including Crunchtime: Net-Chef ), FoodLogiq & ArrowStream, and contribute to the roadmap for how those systems evolve.
- Build and maintain the processes that keep COGS and inventory data accurate (for example; pack size, cage-free, organic, no-antibiotics-ever, price, invoicing and reconciliation) pre-prepared COGS and post-prepped ingredients.
- Partner with Ops Services, Restaurant Operators, and Supply Chain to align system solutions to the end-to-end food journey, from farms, through our distribution network, into our restaurants, and finally to our customers.
- Identify and resolve system gaps and inefficiencies affecting COGS tracking, inventory management, and supply chain visibility, including data reconciliation and mapping.
- Build, maintain, and upgrade the integrations and APIs that connect these systems, and partner with Retail Technology, Finance, and Supply Chain on the reporting and analytics that inform food cost and inventory decisions.
- Establish and maintain SOPs and best practices for COGS-related system use across restaurant and support center teams, and manage the day-to-day relationships with the SaaS vendors behind these platforms.
Desired traits:
- You move comfortably between operational detail and system design without losing sight of either.
- You translate what operators and supply chain partners need into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- You communicate clearly with both technical and operational audiences and adjust your approach to the room.
- You take ownership of data integrity and follow problems through to root cause.
- You build trusted relationships across functions and bring partners along rather than working around them.
- You are organized and methodical in an environment where small details carry real financial weight.
- You stay curious about how the industry is solving these problems and bring those ideas back to the team.
Desired experience:
- 6+ years in business technology, systems administration, or technical operations, including direct work on inventory or cost of goods sold systems.
- Restaurant or QSR industry experience with COGS management and inventory management.
- Hands-on knowledge of Crunchtime: Net-Chef or a comparable inventory and COGS management system.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end food supply chain, including upstream suppliers, distributors, and lead logistics providers, and how it flows into restaurant operations.
- Experience with data integration, reporting, and analytics tools that support inventory and food cost visibility.
- Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with operations, finance, and supply chain stakeholders to drive system and process improvements at scale.
