WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY BUSINESS PARTNER – Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is seeking a practical, hands-on Workplace Health & Safety Business Partner to support safe working practices across our diverse, multi-industry resort operation.

Reporting to the WHS Manager, you will work closely with operational leaders and employees to identify hazards, manage risks and embed safety into everyday activities. You’ll build strong relationships across departments, providing clear advice and practical solutions that support safe and effective operations.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Provide practical WHS advice and support to managers and employees as a first point of contact for safety queries
• Partner with operational leaders to implement WHS policies, procedures and management plans within their departments
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and effective controls, ensuring timely action and accurate documentation
• Assist with incident investigations and reporting, working with the WHS Manager to identify causes and implement corrective actions
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits, follow up on findings and escalate compliance concerns
• Help identify psychosocial risks and support wellbeing initiatives within operational teams
• Encourage employee involvement through WHS committees, consultation and safety awareness activities
• Support site-specific training, inductions and refresher sessions in collaboration with the WHS Manager and Learning & Development team
• Assist with emergency response planning and exercises, including staff readiness and fire safety protocols

What we’re looking for

You’re an approachable WHS professional who enjoys working alongside operational teams and translating safety requirements into practical, workable solutions. You build trust through clear communication, sound judgement and a willingness to understand the day-to-day realities of each department.

You’ll bring a collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the confidence to influence people at all levels. Experience within hospitality or multi-site operations will be particularly valuable, along with the ability to help teams control risks while keeping business activities running effectively.

To be successful, you’ll need:

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) preferred, or demonstrated experience in a relevant WHS role
• Experience working in workplace health and safety, preferably within hospitality or multi-site operations
• Working knowledge of WHS legislation and hospitality industry safety requirements
• A solid understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures
• The ability to support incident investigations and safety audits
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels of the organisation
• A practical approach to integrating safety requirements into daily operations
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with flexibility to work a variety of shifts and roster patterns
• Awareness of construction, high-risk work, marine operations and engineering services 
• Experience delivering training and facilitating safety engagement activities
