Senior/ Principal Technical Professional – Structural

Summary Section 

The candidate will be responsible for the structural design and detailing of furnace/heater systems, includingmain furnace structures and associated structural components, ducting, stacks, lifting / transportation analysis Furnace modules. The role will also involve review and checking of fabrication, detailing and erection drawings to ensure compliance with the structural design intent, applicable codes, project specifications and constructability requirements, technical coordination with Detail Engineering Contractor, Fabricators and resolving shop/site issues related to structural engineering / detailing.

Responsibilities: 

• Strong knowledge ofstructural analysis and design principles,
• Knowledge of Fired Heaters / Reformers / Cracker Structural systems.
• Proficiency inSTAAD.Pro for structural modelling, analysis and design.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling / review software like S3D, E3D, Navisworks and SPR
• Good working knowledge of International codes for Structural Design likeASCE/UBC/AISC/Euro Codes/ IS Codes.
• Good understanding of codes used in Furnace Engineering & Stack Design likeAPI 560, API530, ASME STS-1
• Good understanding ofwind, seismic, operating, thermal, piping, equipment, erection and maintenance loads applicable to furnace structures.
• Knowledge ofbase plate, anchor bolt and structural connection design.
• Understanding of structural requirements associated withlifting, sea / road transportation and erection of large furnace modules/components.
• Ability to interpret mechanical, piping and furnace-layout information and incorporate the associated loads and interfaces into structural design.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Furnace, Piping, Civil, Refractory and Fabrication /Construction/Erection teams.
• Provide structural engineering support during procurement, fabrication and site erection.
• Review of Vendor/Fabricator documents and drawings where structural engineering input is required.
• Support resolution of technical queries arising during fabrication and erection.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Bachelor/master’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
• Approximately10–15 years of Furnace Structural design experience in an EPC company, Furnace/Heater Company or Engineering Consultancy.
• Hands-on experience of Structural design of different types of Fired Heaters. Ammonia / Hydrogen Reformers, Cracking Furnaces, Waste Heat Recovery Systemsis highly preferred.
• Experience in working onInternational/Global Projects and with multi-location engineering teams will be an added advantage.
• Experience in technical coordination with Engineering Vendors & Fabricators
