Job Description:

The Health & Safety Manager provides leadership and direction for health, safety, and loss prevention programs at SSR Mining’s Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) operations. This role plans, develops, implements, and maintains programs designed to prevent workplace incidents and losses while supporting compliance with SSR Mining standards and applicable government regulations. The Health & Safety Manager leads the site safety team, oversees emergency response and industrial hygiene programs, analyzes safety performance and incident data, and advises site leadership on safety requirements, trends, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Day to Day:

• Develop, supervise, and train safety staff to ensure a high degree of competency in managing people and programs.
• Manage departmental administrative responsibilities, including work schedules, time off for direct reports, budgets and costs, projects, goals and objectives, and personnel matters.
• Ensure SSR Mining occupational health, safety, and loss prevention standards and programs are effectively implemented and maintained at CC&V.
• Implement and maintain emergency response procedures and ensure appropriate emergency equipment and personnel are available in the event of an emergency.
• Implement and maintain the site industrial hygiene program.
• Advise site management regarding safety rules, regulations, trends, statistics, and compliance with applicable policies and requirements.
• Analyze data from incident investigations, observations, inspections, and other sources to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements when needed.
• Prepare reports and presentations for site management, government agencies, and corporate leadership.
• Develop and support implementation of safety procedures and ensure compliance with company standard operating procedures and applicable government regulations.
• Coordinate health, safety, and loss prevention matters with applicable governmental and regulatory organizations, as authorized by site and senior management.
• Assist in the implementation of health, safety, and loss prevention training programs.
• Maintain records of safety and loss control compliance through firsthand inspections and information gathered by departmental employees.
• Communicate loss control philosophies and practices to site management to support the reduction of workplace incidents and losses.

Is this You??

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field, plus a minimum of 7 years of progressive relevant experience; or 10+ years of progressive relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Supervisory or leadership experience required.
• Experience in mining, natural resources, energy, infrastructure, or other regulated industries preferred.
• Must understand loss control management philosophies and have strong knowledge of applicable U.S. safety regulations, governmental standards, and working practices.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with governmental and regulatory agencies responsible for safety and health is preferred.
• Must be self-motivated, able to prioritize work effectively, and capable of driving continuous improvement in SSR Mining’s safety, health, and loss prevention programs.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to groups and communicate complex concepts clearly.

Working Conditions & Environment:

• This role involves working in both office and field environments, including outdoor work at an active mine site with exposure to dust, noise, industrial equipment, and varying weather conditions.
• The Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) Mine operates at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 to 10,600 feet above sea level.
• Must be able to work at high altitude.
