A little about the role 

As Risk Assurance Manager, you will lead the day-to-day implementation of Capricorn’s risk and compliance strategy and frameworks. Providing independent Line 2 oversight and constructive challenge, you will help ensure risk supports sound commercial decision-making across the organisation. 

You will oversee Capricorn’s risk profile against Board-approved appetite and tolerance, lead risk and compliance assurance reviews, monitor regulatory change, and provide practical advice on new initiatives, incidents and systemic improvement opportunities. You will also prepare concise Board and executive reporting that highlights key insights and areas for attention. 

You will work closely with senior leaders, operational risk colleagues, internal audit and external partners to strengthen risk management practices, improve operational processes and systems, and build risk maturity. . 

What’s essential 

• 10+ years’ hands-on enterprise risk, compliance or regulatory risk experience, ideally gained in a large, complex organisation or the financial services sector. 

• Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, operational risk practices and the three lines of accountability model. 

• Demonstrated ability to identify, quantify and clearly raise business risks and areas of non-compliance. 

• Experience leading risk and compliance assurance reviews and translating findings into clear insights and improvement priorities. 

• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify legal, regulatory and policy requirements. 

• Proven ability to influence stakeholders, provide constructive challenge and maintain effective business partnerships. 

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and relationship management skills, with high attention to detail. 

• Experience leading, coaching and developing professionals, with clear accountability for team outcomes. 

Highly regarded 

• Experience with governance, risk and compliance systems. 

• Experience working with third-party risk system vendors and supporting system improvement. 

• Exposure to business continuity management or corporate insurance activities. 

• Membership of a relevant industry body. 

Qualifications 

A bachelor’s degree in Commerce or a related field is required.
