Canteen Assistant

The Role

We’re on the lookout for a Casual Canteen Assistant to join the team! 

If you enjoy working with people, providing great service and being part of a busy, hands-on environment, this could be a great opportunity for you. Whether you’re interested yourself or know someone who would be a great fit, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know:

• Approximately 2–3 shifts per week
• Availability to work either 7:00am–2:00pm or 4:00pm–9:00pm
• A friendly, approachable attitude with excellent customer service skills
• Confidence with cash handling and cash register/POS systems
• Flexibility to cover additional shifts when team members are on annual leave

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing and serving a range of vegetarian food
• Providing friendly and efficient service to our team members
• Operating the cash register and processing transactions
• Restocking and maintaining the Staff Store
• Keeping the canteen, equipment and work areas clean, sanitised and well organised
• Following food safety, hygiene and workplace requirements
• Supporting the wider canteen team and providing leave coverage when required

A little experience with food is preferred, but not essential. The successful applicant will be required to complete a Food Handling Course, which will be funded by Sanitarium.
