The Opportunity

As theTechnical Solution Design Specialist – Core Diagnostics, you will be responsible for leading the design and technical positioning of Abbott’s End-to-End (E2E) Core Diagnostics solutions, with a focus on automation solutions. This role serves as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to both internal commercial teams and external executive stakeholders, driving customer value, operational excellence, and profitable growth across strategic and complex opportunities.

What You’ll Do

• Support the “win the operational vote” objective by aligning Abbott’s portfolio to customer institutional goals.
• Lead the technical execution strategy for complex and strategically relevant opportunities, including Landmark, Large, and Medium accounts.
• Act as a subject matter expert in End-to-End IVD solutions, influencing executive-level decision making through credible, insight-driven discussions with C-suite and senior laboratory leadership.
• Translate customer clinical, operational, and strategic priorities into scalable, differentiated Abbott Core Diagnostics solution strategies.
• Lead the design of innovative diagnostic service solutions that enhance clinical outcomes, laboratory efficiency, and operational performance.
• Partner with opportunity owners and commercial leaders to identify, qualify, and shape complex business opportunities within new and existing customer accounts.
• Develop and deliver high-impact Technical Solutions Design outputs using current industry insights, technical expertise, and standardized process and design tools.
• Support profitable growth of the Core Diagnostics business through total solution positioning, upgrades, expansions, and long-term customer partnerships.
• Build strategic relationships with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders across laboratory organizations impacted by Abbott’s End-to-End solution portfolio.
• Utilize technical knowledge, workflow analysis, competitive insights, and solution design tools to establish consultative credibility and demonstrate the value of Abbott solutions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Account Teams to identify customer insights, align solutions, and quantify the impact of proposed recommendations.
• Conduct laboratory process optimization consulting using Lean Management and Six Sigma methodologies supported by workflow and data analysis.
• Take a central role in quantifying solution impact, translating operational improvements from Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to Total Value of Ownership (TVO).
• Plan and deliver customer-facing solution design presentations, reference site visits, and executive-level engagements.
• Utilize Abbott commercial tools and processes to manage account strategies, stakeholder mapping, competitive positioning, activities, and identified risks.
• Develop integrated automation and laboratory workflow solutions using technical design and simulation tools.
• Support pre- and post-implementation optimization initiatives to improve laboratory performance and customer experience.

Requirements

• Diploma, degree, or equivalent in a clinical diagnostic, healthcare, operational engineering, or design discipline.
• Successful completion of Strategic Selling and Negotiation courses.
• Business-level English language skills.
• Lean / Sigma qualifications are highly desirable.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment and/or a successful commercial experience of at least 3 years based on goal achievement.
• Minimum 3 years’ commercial sales experience, preferably in IACC, Hematology, or Automation disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in executing and reporting workflow projects or equivalent initiatives.
• Powerful customer communication and confident presentation skills.
• Workflow consultation experience and/or Lean Sigma expertise.
• Workflow and laboratory design experience.
• Strong computer literacy, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Pivot Tables.
• Working understanding of Power BI.
• Entrepreneurial and independent problem-solving capability.
• Proven track record of contributing to and delivering revenue targets.
• Established knowledge of healthcare markets and medical technology preferred.
• Experience in laboratory medicine highly desirable.
