Position Overview:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commodity Manager (Sourcing Manager) to support our supply chain operations with a focus on bearings and off-the-shelf (OTS) components including cameras, cables, and related electronic/mechanical parts. This role will be instrumental in ensuring timely procurement, supplier management, and inventory optimization for critical components used in our manufacturing and fulfillment operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for bearings and OTS components (cameras, cables, connectors, sensors, etc.).
- Assess suppliers based on cost competitiveness, technical expertise, and business terms (EAU, MOQ, INCOTERM).
- Maintain supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage RFQ (Request for Quote) processes and maintain supplier scorecards.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle from supplier identification and RFQ execution through contract award and delivery.
- Develop sourcing frameworks, standard operating procedures, and operating mechanisms that scale with the organization.
Technical Support & Component Management
- Maintain technical specifications and datasheets for bearings and OTS components.
- Support engineering teams with component selection and compatibility assessments.
- Coordinate with suppliers on technical issues, quality concerns, and design modifications.
- Serve as a key subject matter expert for capital equipment/Spare Parts and Services sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
Cost Management & Analysis
- Analyze component costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Prepare cost comparisons and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses.
- Monitor market trends and commodity pricing for bearings and electronic components.
- Support budget planning and forecasting for component purchases.
- Support demonstrated cost optimization results and data-driven recommendations.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure suppliers meet quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Track and resolve quality issues with components.
- Maintain documentation for supplier audits and certifications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
Administrative & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records in supply chain management systems.
- Generate reports on supplier performance, inventory status, and cost metrics.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Finance).
- Participate in supply chain planning meetings and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Partner closely with teams across the organization to ensure material readiness and targets are met.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or supplier management.
- 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of bearings, mechanical components, and electronic OTS parts.
- Experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain industry.
- Strategic Sourcing, Negotiations, and Supplier Management experience.
- NPI (New Product Innovation) Sourcing Experience.
- Expert level Excel and project management skills.
- Proficiency with supply chain management systems and ERP software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automotive, robotics, or manufacturing supply chains.
- Knowledge of component sourcing for fulfillment or automation equipment.
- Familiarity with supplier evaluation frameworks and cost analysis methodologies.
- Experience with technical component specifications and datasheets.
- MBA, or Master's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field.
- Experience in automation, semiconductors, high-tech, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certifications.
- Experience managing budgets with demonstrated cost optimization results.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a technical product development environment.
