Business Restructuring & Reorganization Associate Attorney

About the Role

Our client's nationally recognized Business Restructuring & Reorganization practice is seeking a Business Restructuring Associate Attorney (4th–6th year) to join its Los Angeles office.

This role is ideal for a mid-level restructuring associate with sophisticated experience handling Chapter 11 bankruptcies, corporate restructurings, and distressed transactions. Associates in this group represent a broad range of stakeholders, including corporate debtors, creditors' committees, lenders, creditors, and third-party purchasers in complex restructuring matters.

The practice offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and exposure to high-profile restructuring engagements across industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in:

  • Chapter 11 bankruptcies

  • Corporate restructurings

  • Distressed transactions

  • Insolvency-related litigation and proceedings

• Advise:

  • Corporate debtors

  • Creditors' committees

  • Individual creditors

  • Third-party purchasers

• Draft and review:

  • Bankruptcy pleadings

  • Motions

  • Restructuring agreements

  • Asset purchase agreements

  • Financing-related documentation

• Support clients throughout all phases of restructuring and insolvency proceedings

• Manage active matters and day-to-day client needs across multiple engagements

• Coordinate with financial advisors, investment bankers, and cross-functional legal teams

• Participate in negotiations and strategic restructuring discussions

Required Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in:

  • Bankruptcy law

  • Corporate restructuring

  • Chapter 11 proceedings

• Strong experience representing:

  • Debtors

  • Creditors' committees

  • Creditors

  • Distressed asset purchasers

• Experience at a leading restructuring/bankruptcy practice strongly preferred

• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to manage sophisticated client relationships and multiple active matters simultaneously

• Strong academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school

Preferred Qualifications

• Judicial clerkship experience with a bankruptcy judge strongly preferred

• Experience working at an elite restructuring practice in a major market

• Exposure to distressed M&A or restructuring finance matters
