About the Role
This is an intermediate Business Analyst role embedded within the Sustainability and Climate Strategy and Disclosure portfolio at a leading energy infrastructure organization. The position sits at the intersection of data analysis, visualization, and strategic communications, translating complex sustainability and climate datasets into clear, decision-ready insights for audiences ranging from business unit leads to executives, board members, and investors. The work spans methane performance monitoring, regulatory and disclosure tracking, peer benchmarking, and contributions to external sustainability reporting.
The ideal candidate brings four or more years of analytical experience, is comfortable working with large and nuanced datasets, and can distill findings into compelling narratives and visuals. You work well across teams, including with data governance colleagues, and you are equally at ease building a Power BI dashboard as you are synthesizing a regulatory framework update. Experience in the energy or utilities sector and familiarity with sustainability or climate disclosure concepts will help you hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards tracking methane performance against corporate targets, including sensitivity and step-change analysis supporting the methane intensity reduction target
- Develop and monitor business-unit-level KPIs for the methane target implementation plan and prepare materials for the Climate Working Group, Climate Steering Committee, executive leadership, and board reporting cycles
- Collaborate with the Data Governance team to support forecast methane emissions data processes, methodology documentation, and analytical outputs
- Research and synthesize sustainability trends, peer benchmarking data, and evolving regulatory and disclosure frameworks to inform internal strategy and decision-making
- Build and maintain peer climate-related datasets covering methane intensity, GHG intensity, targets, and disclosure practices
- Coordinate data review and input contributions for external climate assessments and inquiries, including net-zero benchmark submissions
- Support testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of an AI-assisted tool designed to streamline responses to sustainability-related questionnaires
- Contribute analytical and writing support to the annual Sustainability Report and related external communications
Required Skills & Experience
- 4 or more years of experience in a business analysis, data analysis, or related analytical role
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills, with hands-on experience in Power BI
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into clear insights for senior and executive audiences
- Experience preparing materials for leadership, board, or investor-facing communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (native or bilingual proficiency required)
- Ability to work on-site in Calgary, AB, with valid authorization to work in Canada
Preferred Skills
- Background in the energy, utilities, or natural resources sector
- Familiarity with sustainability, climate disclosure, or ESG reporting frameworks
- Experience with marginal abatement cost curve analysis or similar climate economics tools
- Knowledge of regulatory and voluntary disclosure standards relevant to GHG and methane reporting
- Experience working within or alongside a data governance function
