About You

You’re an experienced financial accountant who knows the fundamentals inside out but is also excited about how AI and automation can change the way finance operates. You’ll bring strong technical accounting experience across financial reporting, treasury, compliance and month-end, along with the judgement to know when technology can improve a process and when human oversight needs to stay firmly in the loop. 

You’re already genuinely using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot in your day-to-day work and are interested in going beyond basic prompting to build smarter, more efficient ways of working. Most importantly, you’re comfortable doing the work yourself. You understand that to effectively automate, review and improve a finance process, you first need to understand exactly how it should work.

About the Role

Join our National Shared Services Finance team as a Senior Financial Accountant, based at our Arundel Head Office on the Gold Coast.This is a finance role first. Initially, your focus will be approximately 80% finance and 20% AI and automation. As you capture, document and streamline finance processes, there will be increasing opportunity to shift that balance.

In your new role, you will be responsible for:

• Owning the weekly cash flow forecast, treasury, intercompany funding and bank covenant reporting
• Managing month-end close controls, including journal completeness checks and P&L variance reviews
• Issuing national, state and branch P&Ls
• Reviewing and signing off bank reconciliations and acting as the escalation point for Accounts Payable
• Preparing FBT, income tax provisions, Payment Times Reporting and TPAR
• Managing payroll tax and WorkCover allocations
• Owning balance sheet reconciliations and P&L lines within your area and explaining variances prior to close
• Supporting the Financial Controller with year-end audit requirements and financial statements
• Providing backup support for NetSuite administration
• Leading and developing the AP Accountant and offshore AP team
• Identifying where AI and automation can genuinely improve finance workflows and where they don’t
• Building practical automations and agents that continue to deliver value after implementation
• Redesigning processes rather than simply using AI to complete the same work faster
• Reviewing and correcting AI-generated outputs using your own accounting knowledge and judgement
• Sharing what you build and helping the broader finance team adopt smarter ways of working
  

About you

• CA, CPA or equivalent qualification
• 5+ years’ financial accounting experience within a commercial or multi-entity group
• Strong working knowledge of Australian tax and compliance requirements, including GST, FBT, payroll tax and income tax effect accounting
• Demonstrated experience owning month-end close, treasury and cash flow forecasting
• Strong ERP and systems experience, with NetSuite highly regarded
• Strong capability working with spreadsheets, financial data and systems
• Genuine daily use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot beyond occasional experimentation
• Experience leading or mentoring AP or transactional finance staff, including offshore teams, will be highly regarded
• Experience documenting and rebuilding finance processes rather than simply inheriting established processes will also be highly regarded
