OUR STORYÂ
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE The Chicago Cubs franchise, a charter member of Major League Baseball’s National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs andestablished three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor.Â
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTEÂ
The Chicago Cubs are seeking to hire multipleAssociates in Baseball Technology for the 2027 Minor League season. During the season,Associates willbe responsible for managing andoperating our technology, as well as collecting, cleaning, manipulating, and delivering video and data for one of the Chicago Cubs’ minor league affiliates. As requested by coaching staff and baseball operations,Associates will analyze and research output from data collected throughout the season.Â
This seasonal hourly position will start with remote training and responsibilities prior to the start of Spring Training, then transition to Mesa, Arizona at the team’s complex for the duration Spring Training before being assigned and deployed to a Chicago Cubs’ Minor League Affiliate location for the regular season. The Chicago Cubs will provide housing andsome additional living expenses.Â

THE DAY-TO-DAY:Â
Remote work and training prior to the start of Spring TrainingÂ
Receive technical training in Arizona tooperate core technologies and process data during Spring TrainingÂ
Operate core technologies during individual practices, bullpens, and batting practice at Spring Training and affiliatesÂ
Diligentlymonitor Hawk-Eye and other data acquisition software during home games to ensure reliable in-game video and data collectionÂ
Calibrate and train pitches for use on advanced pitching machinesÂ
Operate BATS data collection software for select eventsÂ
Ensure all collected data is mapped to completeandaccurate metadata byutilizing software, supplemental video, and an understanding of baseball rulesÂ
Utilize technicalexpertise in video editing software to trim, map, and enhance videosÂ
Maintain all technology and hardware at the affiliate,assisting with debugging and calibrating when applicableÂ
Work with coaching staff and players to access video, data, and other needsÂ
Administer specialized assessments, diligently recording results for analysisÂ
Precisely mark keyframes of high-speed video for pitching and hittingÂ
Travel with the teamÂ
Perform analysis of collected data as requestedÂ
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:Â
Bachelor’s degree and/or strong professional experience in a technological fieldÂ
Strong general understanding of technology and computer softwareÂ
Ability to learn and master baseball technologies such as Hawk-Eye, Trackman, BATS,Rapsodo, Blast Sensors, etc.Â
Ability to prioritize and troubleshoot various technologies Â
Aptitude to learnnew technologiesÂ
Effective communication, including ability to articulate technical topicsÂ
Strong organizational skillsÂ
Willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessaryÂ
Ability to travel for affiliate road gamesÂ
Experience with network/cloud sharing video and dataÂ
WHATSETS YOU APART:Â Â
Working knowledge of advanced baseball statisticsÂ
Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python)Â
Experience with SQLÂ
Passion for learning more about how to succeed in baseballÂ
Fluency in SpanishÂ
Previous work experience in baseballÂ
