POSITION SUMMARY:
The program instructor is responsible for providing age appropriate fine arts programs and branchactivities. The program instructor is responsible for implementing program plans and supervising activitiesas assigned. The program instructor will incorporate YMCA Character Development values into each lessonand reinforce the Y culture. The program instructor is responsible for the keeping program area/site cleanand free from clutter, recognize potential hazards, communicate and eliminate hazards relative toprogram and program areas. Adheres to policies and responsibilities in the Child Abuse Prevention Plan.Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate andconsistent with YMCA values. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ï‚· Plan all activities in advance, be prepared to be on time, with proper material, equipment, and in properattire.
ï‚· Incorporate YMCA Character Development values into each lesson.
ï‚· Maintain class/participant attendance and student skill accomplishment records.
ï‚· Keep teen area clean, recognize potential hazards, communicate and eliminate hazards relative toprogram and program areas.
ï‚· Plan and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate andconsistent with YMCA values.
ï‚· Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
ï‚· Attend staff meetings and trainings.
ï‚· Ensure all classes taught are in accordance with YMCA of Cleveland standards and guidelines.
ï‚· Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, childabuse prevention and emergencies.
ï‚· Maintain positive relations with patrons and other staff. Model relationship-building skills in allinteractions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
ï‚· Minimum of one year's experience in programming/program growth. (Youth oriented Programming andSports)
ï‚· Minimum of one year's experience in any style of dance or tumbling program. Experience can come frombeing a previous participant, a coach, or a certified coach.
Certification(s) and Requirements:
ï‚· CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
ï‚· Adhere to Blood borne Pathogen standards and attend annual training.
ï‚· Must be at least 16 years of age
ï‚· Must complete concussion training prior to working in a sports related activityÂ
Technical Skills and Knowledge
ï‚· Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
ï‚· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
ï‚· Self-motivated team player.
ï‚· Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
ï‚· Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse andneglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completionof Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) andnotifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resourcesdepartment (s).
Beginning pay rate: $10.70
