Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 Alpha - our rapidly developed humanoid platform now running in real industrial pilots - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.

About The Role

We're hiring a Robotics Simulation & Control Engineer to join our Controls team based in London.

As aRobotics Simulation & Control Engineer, you will help design and validatefuture generations of our robotic platforms - includingbipedal and wheeled systems - using physics simulation and reinforcement learning.

You will develop tools to determine whether a robot design can perform real-world tasksbefore committing to hardware.

Your work will directly informrobot architecture, actuator selection, sensor placement, and control strategies.

A key responsibility of this role isowning and validating the canonical robot models (URDF and simulation assets) used across simulation and control stacks.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and evaluatenew robot platforms using physics simulation.

  • Analyze robot capabilities includingworkspace, manipulability, dynamic balance, and torque limits.

  • Usereinforcement learning to stress-test robot designs and explore capability limits.

  • Own and maintainURDF models of current and future robot platforms.

  • Maintain theCAD → URDF → simulation pipeline.

  • Develop tools and benchmarks to evaluatelocomotion, manipulation, and platform robustness.

  • Providequantitative feedback to hardware teams on actuator sizing, joint placement, mass distribution, and sensor layout.

  • Collaborate withmechanical, control, and perception teams to guide platform design decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. inRobotics, Mechanical Engineering, Control, or a related field.

  • Strong foundation inrobot kinematics and dynamics.

  • Experience withrobot simulation environments (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or similar).

  • Experience withreinforcement learning in robotics or physics-based simulation.

  • Experience working withURDF or similar robot description formats.

  • Strong programming skills inPython and/or C++.

Nice to have:

  • Experience withlegged, humanoid, or wheeled robots.

  • Experience trainingRL locomotion or manipulation policies.

  • Experience withwhole-body control or torque-controlled robots.

  • Experience withsimulation-driven hardware design.

  • Experience buildinglarge-scale RL training pipelines.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of annual leave (accrued), 15 days of paid sick leave, and paid company holidays.

  • Fully funded private healthcare for UK employees, with broad provider access, virtual and in‑person care, and strong mental health and serious illness support.

  • Equity included - we believe builders should share in what they build.

  • Pension scheme with a total 8% contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.

  • Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in‑office.

  • Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.

  • Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.
