PositionSummary:
Manages and supervises daily operation of the Branch Service Department activities and employees. Strives to achieve monthly and annual Branch budget goals. Sets technician expectations to achieve growth in individual skill sets, achieve optimum work product efficiency, and to determine if individual employees are desired for retention or redeployment outside RihmKenworth.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Company and Operations:

- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of union and non-union employees, fostering acollaborative and respectful workplace.
- InconjunctionwithController,BranchManager andDirector ofService,developsmonthly and annual department budget goals
- Contributes to achievement of department goals andobjectives
- Always stays abreast of activities/work in theshop
- Provides service estimates to customers in conjunction with ServiceAdvisors
- Reviews and assists in closing ROs for invoicing or the Warranty Dept within 2 days oflast touch by a technician
- Understands and ensures compliance with warranty and policy
- Interacts with factory and vendorrepresentatives
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships withcustomers
- Directly interacts with customers, direct reports and fellow employees to achieve bestcustomer outcomes
- Reviews service complaints/issues and effectively takes appropriateaction
- Maintains required and needed toolinventory
- Maintains a safe and compliant workingenvironment
- Maintains a professionalappearance
- Attends management meetings whenrequested
- Other duties as assigned to meet businessrequirements
PersonnelManagement:
- Supervises day-to-day activities of branch Service employees: technicians, service advisors, lot porters
- Directly oversees and works with the Service Advisors to achieve best customeroutcomes
- Participatesindecision makingprocessregardingemployment actionssuchashiring,promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc.
- Trains, motivates, mentors, monitors and reviews employeeperformance
- Coaches and takes corrective and disciplinary action, especially regarding safety matters, accidents and near misses
- Strives for teamwork and positive employee relations within department and with otherdepartments
- Oversees implementation and maintenance of employee trainingschedule
- Monitors/manages technician time records and approves forpayroll
- Holds regular employee meetings to foster open two-way communication and meet employee training and development needs
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 10+ years' experience automotive or truck service departmentexperience
- 5+ years of successful supervisoryexperience
KeyAttributes/Skills/Characteristics:
- Proficiency with computers and basic business software applications (MSOffice)
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Dependable, organized andcommitted
- Strong communication skills, written &verbal
- Resourceful andmotivated
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in business ormanagement
- At least 2 years of experience managing unionizedstaff.
