Senior Manager, Canadian Tax

Overview

In this key management role, you will lead all corporate tax compliance activities for AtkinsRéalis’ Canadian entities. You will coordinate internal and external resources and manage the overall deliverables schedule to ensure rigorous, efficient and timely execution. Your responsibilities will include overseeing tax risk management, the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns and tax provisions, as well as information requests and audits conducted by tax authorities. You will also assess the tax implications of specific transactions and ensure their appropriate treatment in tax returns and tax provisions.

Reporting to the Director, Canadian Tax, you will work within a team of six professionals whose experience levels range from Advisor to Senior Manager. This team is part of a global tax function comprising more than 40 professionals within a multinational company headquartered in Montréal. You will also collaborate with external advisors who support tax compliance activities.

Your role

• Lead the team and coordinate the resources assigned to the various tax compliance activities.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns, completed jointly by the internal team and external service providers.
• Oversee the preparation of annual and quarterly tax provisions and ensure their accuracy.
• Coordinate audits conducted by Canadian tax authorities and participate in discussions with them.
• Identify and mitigate Canadian tax risks while contributing to the continuous improvement and automation of processes.
• Analyze the tax implications of transactions and projects, including acquisitions, divestitures, liquidations, dissolutions and internal reorganizations; provide recommendations and determine their treatment in tax returns and tax provisions.

About you

• A Master’s degree in taxation, completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program, or equivalent advanced tax training.
• A professional accounting designation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least seven years of relevant experience in tax compliance and tax accounting.
• Project management experience in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting and IFRS standards related to income taxes.
• Engaging leadership, a collaborative mindset, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent command of both French and English, written and spoken.*
